📖 THE MIRROR - Chapter 1 Review

"Just finished the first chapter, and I have to say—it’s a strong start. The opening metaphor comparing childhoods to either sugar or shattered glass immediately grabbed my attention. The tone is dark, reflective, and unsettling in the best way. Nathan’s inner world is introduced with subtle detail, and the atmosphere is genuinely immersive. That said, I have a few small critiques. Some sentences feel a bit too literary or overly poetic for the scene, which slightly slows the flow. I also expected a more powerful twist or reveal at the end of the chapter—something that hits hard and lingers. The mystery is well-paced, but one more punch would’ve made it unforgettable. Still, for a first chapter, it delivers. The buildup, tone, and psychological depth are all promising. If the tension keeps rising in the next chapters, this could turn into something really special. Well done—it feels like the beginning of something big. 👏 #TheMirror"

THE MIRROR

"I’ve just read the first chapter of The Mirror, and I must say—there’s a quiet intensity to it that I really appreciate. It doesn’t scream horror or shock value, but instead pulls you in slowly, with this constant feeling that something is off. I liked how the author didn’t rush to explain everything. There’s a sense of trust in the reader, like you’re expected to notice the cracks in the story yourself. That subtlety works well. The protagonist, Nathan, feels layered—like there’s more under the surface we haven’t seen yet. The way the mirror is introduced is eerie without being cliché, and I think that’s what made it stick in my mind after reading. One thing I wasn’t fully sold on was the pacing. While I enjoyed the atmosphere, a slightly stronger hook or action near the end could’ve heightened the suspense. It ends with unease, but I think it could’ve used just a bit more tension. Still, I’m intrigued. The setup is there. I’m hoping chapter two leans further into the psychological unraveling that’s been hinted at. Definitely keeping this one on my radar."
