1// The First Step
I'm on the train. Watching the view to quite my thoughts. Leaving my home has been so hard but finally i decided to leave i don't know if it will be permanent all i know is i need a vacation from everything especially my job.
----
I got off the train and breathed in the fresh air. I checked my phone because I was expecting a call from my landlord. When I saw my phone was about to die, I decided to enter a café. After walking for about 10 minutes, I went into the first café I came across. It wasn’t very big, but it looked cute enough. I left my suitcase by one side and looked around. There were only two customers inside. When I saw a girl behind the counter, I approached her.
"Hey, I hope I'm not bothering you. Can I borrow your charger if you have one?"
The girl smiled and went into a room I couldn’t see, which I guessed was the kitchen of the café.
"Here you are. "
I thanked her and moved to a table. It was starting to get dark, but my landlord neither answered my calls nor called me back. I was starting to get tense and angry when the girl I had just spoken to came toward me
"I will close the café in 5 minutes, so I need you to leave. "
" Can I ask you something? Could you help me find a place to stay? I'm not from around here, it might be a hotel an apartment i really don't care. "
"You're lucky there's a room at the motel I'm staying at became available last week. You can come with me if you want. "
After I paid for my drink, we left together to go to the motel. Even if it was just for a short while, we were going to stay at the same place. I thought it was a good opportunity to become friends, so as we walked toward the motel, I broke the silence and asked her some questions to get to know her.
"So you're not from this town? You're staying at a motel. "
She looked at me in a slightly strange and cold way and said.
"I am"
"Then why you're staying at a motel? "
She gave me a sharper look
We went quiet again, but this time, she was the one who broke the silence.
" I grew up in this town, then moved to London. I came back last summer. it felt like my roots were calling me."
I tried to understand what she was saying.
"Why you're staying at the motel? I suppose you have an house here. "
"No, i don't. My family lives in London with me. My grandma had a house but after we lost her we sold her house. "
" Sorry for your loss. "
She didn't react what i said instead she asked me.
"What about you? What are you doing in such a small town? "
"I'm here for a vacation that i really need. And i don't think it's such a small town. "
She smiled.
"It's not that small but the population is quite low. "
She pointed to the motel
"There it is. "
We went inside, but there was no one at the reception. We rang the bell a few times, and finally someone came an elderly woman. After talking for a bit, she told me where the room was and gave me the key. When we reached the second floor, I said goodbye to Ruth. I saw her enter her room and continued on my way My room was on the third and top floor. The hallway lights weren’t fully working, and the motel had a lot of flaws. The only good thing about it was that it was cheap, but a place like this couldn’t be expensive anyway. I finally reached my room, inserted the key, and opened the door. The inside felt very gloomy. it didn’t seem like someone had just moved out a week ago, but more like no one had set foot in the room for months, maybe even years. I was too tired to do anything. I left my suitcase to the side and threw myself straight onto the bed. I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep.
