“Want to go for a music night?” the Plus Man asked, leaning against the balcony railing. He wore a black Plus mask that covered most of his head.
“Sure, boss,” the Plus Guard replied without hesitation, his tone flat.
The Plus Man chuckled to himself and nodded. “Aren’t you going to ask me why?”
The Plus Guard responded in the same monotone. “I am not worthy of questioning you, boss.”
“Why?... Because I’m your boss?”
“Never, boss. But our lives belong to the Plus Authority. We share the strongest bond through unity—with them and with you. We believe in unity.” His tone warmed slightly.
“But you answer to me,” the Plus Man smirked.
The Plus Guard bowed. “Certainly.”
Satisfied, the Plus Man shifted the conversation. “What do you think about pulling some strings and putting words together on loud mics?”
“It lures prey and brings profit, hand in hand, boss,” the guard answered.
“Good answer. What’s your branding?”
The guard pulled back his jacket sleeve, revealing a number branded on his arm.
“11020, boss.”
The Plus Man nodded. “Let’s target the industry that’s been ignored for too long.”
The guard handed him a ringing phone.
“Echo,” a commanding voice answered.
“Signal,” the Plus Man responded.
“You have two weeks to get it done. No excuses,” the voice ordered.
“It’ll be ready in one week—no hurdles,” the Plus Man assured. The call disconnected before he could finish his sentence. It was more of an order than a conversation.
He smirked. “Let’s get the game started....”
