Chapter 1
The warm sunlight streaming through the windows of Avril's chambers illuminated the delicate patterns on the velvet drapes, casting a gentle glow over the room. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the soft chirping of birds could be heard in the distance, adding to the serene ambiance. Avril stretched her slender frame, feeling an unusual sense of lightness wash over her. She smiled to herself, wondering what had brought about this sudden change in her mood.
Mandy, her personal maid and best friend, entered the room with a warm smile, greeting Avril with the familiar words, "Good morning, Princess." Avril's response was immediate, her voice bright and cheerful. "Morning, Mandy. How are you today?" Mandy's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she replied, "I am fine, Princess. You look happy today. What is the good news?"
Avril's smile faltered for a moment, and she hesitated, unsure of how to respond. She didn't know what had triggered this unexpected feeling of happiness, but she was determined to enjoy it. "Nothing, Mandy. I just feel refreshed," she said, trying to sound casual.
Mandy's expression changed from curiosity to surprise as she announced, "Good to hear, Princess. Breakfast is ready and will be served soon." As she walked into the bathroom to prepare Avril's bath, Avril called out, "Mandy?" Her maid's voice was prompt, "Yes, Princess?"
Avril's words tumbled out in a rush, "I will join the table today. Don't bother bringing my breakfast." Mandy's footsteps halted, and she poked her head out of the bathroom, her eyes wide with surprise. "Princess?" she called out, seeking confirmation.
