Prologue - Intro

In Scotland, stories are told about the Gaunts, descendants of Slytherin, whose cruelty knows no limit. It is said that they loathe muggles and muggleborns so much that they would torture them with no compunction of remorse.
In America, no such stories are told. Mostly because the few who find out are made to ‘disappear’ without a trace. That is to keep the secret of the American branch of the Gaunt family. Of one Victor Gaunt and his wife Amelia who live in a mansion hidden deep in the Black Forest just outside of Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The forest is said to be haunted; therefore, it is the perfect place to do his dirty work. After all, Victor has followed many of the Gaunt traditions and has tortured his fair share of muggles and muggleborns. What better place to do so than a place of total isolation.
Due to loathing the very idea of the Dark Arts, Amelia isn’t kept apprised of Victor’s wrongdoings. That’s for the best as she currently has her hands full. She has just recently given birth to twins. A son and a daughter. Aster and Sadie. Their lives will be fraught with struggle. Trials that will shape their lives. Will it harden their hearts and leave them in darkness? Or will it strengthen them and lead them to experience the blinding light of hope and love? Only time shall tell what direction their fate takes them. Aster and Sadie. The twin lights.
