Chapter 1: “The Girl Who Spoke to Shadows”
“I had started writing this story a while back, but then I stopped midway and even thought of deleting it. Later, since I had already written so many chapters, I decided to complete it instead. 🥹 If you find any mistakes here and there, please kindly ignore them. I just hope the story brings you a smile while reading. Thank you so much for giving it your time and love—it truly means the world to me 💕.”
Starting of the story...
Rain lashed against the grimy windowpane of the asylum.
Inside, under the dim yellow flicker of a ceiling light, sat a girl.
Barefoot. Slouched. Wrapped in a stained hospital blanket.
Her lips moved constantly, whispering things no one could hear.
> "They're watching... the man with no eyes... he's in the corner again."
She had no name in the records. Just a number.
Room 313. “Jane Doe.”
Nurses said she was violent.
Doctors said she was delusional.
But none of them stayed long enough to listen.
Except him.
Dr. Taehyung Kim.
Psychiatrist. Cold. Respected. Unreadable.
He had arrived two weeks ago from the city.
And for reasons no one could understand — he was interested in her.
---
He entered her cell quietly, shoes echoing against the floor.
She didn’t lift her head.
> “Room 313,” he spoke coolly. “Why are you talking to the shadows again?”
She flinched.
> “They talk first,” she replied, voice hoarse. “You just don’t hear them.”
Taehyung crouched in front of her, tilting her chin up with two fingers.
Her skin was cold. Eyes distant.
But there was something else buried in that gaze…
> Fear?
Or a memory trying to surface?
---
“Do you remember your name?”
She blinked. Slowly.
Then whispered,
> “I think... someone used to call me Y/N.”
He watched her for a long, unreadable moment.
Then stood.
> “You’ll see me every day from now on. No nurses. No cameras. Just me.”
She looked up, startled.
> “Why?”
“Why would you care?”
Taehyung’s gaze darkened.
> “Because your mind isn’t broken, Y/N.” “It was taken from you.”
She froze.
The first tear slipped down her cheek.
He stepped closer.
> “And I’m going to take it back for you.”
---
But what she didn’t know...
Was that the same man who came to save her—
Was the same one who made her forget.
And soon…
She’d remember everything.
Even the pain.
Even him.
