There were wires taped to his skin.
A strange taste in his mouth.
And every time he blinked, the lights above flickered like they were judging him.
He turned his head slowly.
There was a man sitting in the chair beside his bed. Dressed in black. Watching.
Not blinking. Not smiling.
Just watching.
The man leaned forward.
"You've been through something terrible," he said softly. "But I'm here now. You're safe."
The boy blinked again.
"Who... are you?"
The man's lips curved.
"I'm the one who never left your side. Your name is Enzo. And you're mine."
