Chapter 1: The One Who Waits

Chapter 1: The One Who Waits

In the middle of a bustling town where everyone seemed to be rushing toward something—career, success, approval—there lived a boy named Aarav.

He had a steady job at a design studio, a polite heart, who see happiness in small things.

Every evening, he returned to his house where he lives with his father, mother and her little sister. One evening the tv was kept on and he saw strangers falling in love.

He wasn’t bitter. He just wondered, “When will someone look at me the way those people do?”

He wasn’t searching for beauty. He wasn’t even searching for perfection.

He just wanted someone to talk to. Someone to wait for him at the end of the day.

Someone to understand him… without needing to explain too much.

Then he took a step that can change his life. Or just make it more worse...?

One Sunday, as the sky hung heavy with gray clouds, Aarav visited a small marriage matching center.

He had avoided it for months. But today, something told him to go.Inside, it was silent. A kind old lady offered him tea.

Then after finishing the tea he filled a small form. Name. Age. Preferences. Then waited.

After a few minute. The door opened.

She stepped in like a whisper—wearing a soft blue frock, her hair tied gently back, and a leather-bound notepad held tightly in her hands. She walked slowly, not nervously, but carefully like she was used to moving in a world that didn’t wait for her. That never seems to understand her.

Her namme was Meera.

The old kind lady smiled and spoke softly,

“She doesn’t speak, beta. Born mute. But she hears everything. She lives alone because her parents died in a car accident so now she teaches kids painting, watches movies, drinks cold coffee almost every day… and she really loves flowers.”

Aarav nodded. Something inside him woke up and said "I want to take care of this girl.”

But then ---

Meera sat across from him. Her eyes didn’t flinch or scan the room.

They looked straight into his. And then she flipped open her notepad.

She wrote:

> “I can’t speak… but I can listen.

I can’t call your name… but I’ll remember it.

I don’t want someone to fix me.

I just want someone who stays.”

Aarav read the words three times.

Then he took a paper, borrowed her pen, and scribbled:

> “I talk a lot sometimes.

But I’ve never met anyone whose silence felt this comforting.”

---

They looked at each other. Nothing was said. But something had begun. A new journey of two innocent hearts.

Before she left, Meera plucked a small yellow flower from the pot near the exit and tucked it into her notepad like it was a secret.

Aarav watched her walk out, her blue dress swaying gently, and thought

“She didn’t say a word… but I think I heard everything I ever wanted to hear.”
