Deep In Dark

~Isabella~

“Isabella, come on. It’s just a party.” Nicky says as we are walking down the hallway to our afternoon class.

“Yeah, at the house where all the Lords stay.” I keep my eyes ahead of me as I’m walking. My heels clanking against the concrete floor. Sunlight bouncing off the marble wall to my left. A nice breeze brushes the hallway from the balcony window, almost lifting my skirt.

Ectorius University, EU, is like one big maze. Long hallways made of marble walls and concrete floors. The grand yard is the center of the University, with a large willow tree that is so old and protected that no one is allowed to touch the roots.

Each floor of the University houses one class. So the freshmen are located on the first floor while the seniors are on the fourth. Classes are spread out all through the building. Thankfully no one cares if you show up to class, it’s just on you if you don’t graduate.

“Isabella, please. We are sophomores now! We can go to these parties. They say that you can find a guy there.”

“No thanks. All the guys here just use women then throw them out. I don’t think of myself that poorly, plus I’m with James.”

“Just think about it ok? I’ll see you after class.” Nicky says before entering one of the classrooms to our left. I walk a little further before entering my classroom. I hate school.

~Shawn~

I knock on Dean Blackwood’s door. “Come in, Shawn.” I hear his voice say from the other side. I open the door to find him sitting at his desk with his hands folded in his lap, leaning back in his chair.

“You wanted to see me sir.” I say standing up straighter and putting my hands behind my back.

“It’s ok Shawn. Relax. shut the door and have a seat.”

I do as I’m told.

“I have heard you are very impressive. Becoming a Lord one year before you’re supposed to.”

I don’t do small talk.

“Yes, sir. What did you need me for?”

“Now that you are a senior you understand that you are given an Elected. Correct?”

“Yes sir.”

“Well…” he slides a picture of a gorgeous woman with brown hair that reaches her lower back and brown-hazel eyes that glow. “We have decided that this young woman is your Elected.”

“What is her name?”

“Isabella Blackwood.” The name practically slaps me in the face but my expression does not falter. Instead I sit up even straighter and give Dean Blackwood a nod. “I know you will be able to protect her from the others.”

“Yes sir.”

“Good. I don’t care what else you do. Don’t let anyone else touch her. Understand?”

“Understood.”

“Good. Make her yours. You can leave now.” I give him a nod before standing and walking to the door, but I pause, looking over my shoulder.

“And if anyone touches her?”

“Make sure they know who she belongs to. She is yours now. Do what you must.”

Without another word, I leave.
