Chapter One
Chapter One
From a young age I have always believed that supernatural beings existed and walked amongst us, maybe it was because I saw my mum’s friend’s friend levitate a few items in her store or it could be because I saw a man shift into a Wolf.
Even from a young age, I knew it wasn’t my mind playing tricks on me. What I saw was real, very real and it was all around us. I didn’t tell anyone for two reasons, one- I had no real friends to tell and two- I wasn’t stupid. I knew the Witches or Werewolves would kill me or the humans would chuck me in a mental hospital because let’s be real we’ve all heard about the conspiracy theorists that vehemently swear that they’ve seen aliens or were abducted by aliens and the whole world passes them off as nutcases.
I didn’t want to be passed off as a nutcase or be tossed into a psychiatric facility or killed so I didn’t utter a word, instead I imagined and fantasised about their life, their abilities, and if they would take over the world and kill us humans. I hoped the last bit doesn’t come true, it would suck to die without experiencing the world fully.
I did what anyone would do, I read up on them. Not online, they have some weird crap online such as that crazy girl that kept wanting to sex with an entire wolf pack in their wolf form or that other weirdo who wanted to offer herself up as a sacrifice to the Witches. Why anyone would want to do either of that is beyond me.
Bestiality and masochism were on the list of things that did not tickle my fancy.
I read books about them, a lot of books. It was very interesting, hard to read but very interesting, especially the books that were written ages ago. The old books were either written in Latin or that old Shakespearean language that everyone complained about back in secondary school when we had to do Shakespeare in English Literature, or was it English Language? Either way it was difficult to read but worth it.
There was so much on Werewolves and Witches and one book really stood out from everything. It was a book stating that there were three types of Wolves and went into brief details about them which made no sense at all. Werewolf, Shifter and Lycan is what the book said but it was probably made up because all three words basically meant the same thing right? They were all describing a human entity being able to transform into a wolf entity.
So like I said I was aware that there were Werewolves and Witches around me but I never thought I would meet, meet, one let alone be saved by one.
Hmm, and who would have thought it would lead to something more than that.
Certainly not me.

They say your life flashes before your eyes before you’re about to die. I sort of thought that would be true as well, but no, instead I saw the speeding car heading towards me while I stood in the middle of the road like an idiot.
There was no childhood memories flashing through my mind, no images of my parents, my family, nothing like that, just the speeding car heading right towards me. Maybe it was because I wasn’t going to die and my brain was telling me to move the hell out of the way instead of reminiscing about the past.
It happened so fast that I sometimes don’t believe it happened at all. I didn’t close my eyes as it neared instead I stared at it like a deer caught in headlights, which was very accurate except for the deer part, before something grabbed me and moved me away.
“What were you doing? Did you not see the car?” The man who saved me yelled after he put me down onto the ground.
Travelling at an inhumane speed isn’t as awesome as it’s portrayed in books and movies, I felt dizzy and the ground underneath me felt wobbly.
“Answer me!” The man shouted as he shook me which probably wasn’t such a good idea since I was already feeling so dizzy.
I took deep breath as wave of nausea ran through me.
Oh god, I’m going to puke on him.
No I didn’t puke my guts on him, instead I did something much more humiliating and cliché.
I fainted.

I woke up in an unfamiliar bed and the first I did was lift the duvet and make sure I was still wearing clothes.
“What are you doing?” A deep husky voice interrupted me and I looked up to find the man who saved me.
“Just checking to see if my clothes are still on, and they are so that means you haven’t raped me! Well, you can still do that and put my clothes back on but I don’t feel anything so yay.” I quickly blurted out before widening my eyes as the man blinked several times before looking very offended.
“Er thanks for saving me and taking me to a random place.” I muttered as I sat up. “But I have to go now.”
The man nodded and watched me as I clumsily got out of bed. I found my flats on the floor next to the bed and put them on.
“You’re not human.” I said bravely as I straightened up.
“No.” The man said as he kept staring at me.
“Are you a Werewolf?” I asked trying to contain my excitement.
I’ve actually met a real-life Werewolf! How cool was that?
“Close.” The man muttered lowly as he continued staring at my face.
My smile slipped off my face as I thought of something. “Am I your mate?” I paused before continuing as the man frowned in confusion. “I’m only asking because you keep staring at me as if you’re in shock or something.”
“No, you are not my mate.” The man muttered as he finally looked away.
The why did he keep staring at me like that?
Oh my God, did I have something on my face?
I patted around my face and wiped it with my sleeves just in case I did have something stuck there and this man was too polite to tell me. Though I did think it’s more impolite not to tell someone than it is to tell someone that they’ve got something on their face or on their teeth or on their clothes.
The embarrassment of being told would only be for a few seconds and less humiliating than finding out after hours or at the end of the day when you get home, look in the mirror and get the shock of your life.
Satisfied that there was nothing stuck to my face like my lunch, I asked him another question. “So what are you?” I asked as I smiled softly.
Thank God I wasn’t his mate. No offense to Werewolves but I honestly don’t want to spend the rest of my life with a hairy animal.
The man turned to look at me again, his blue eyes piercing into mine.
“I am a Lycan.”
