Chapter 1:The body
The rain-soaked streets of Lusaka gleamed like polished stone, reflecting the flashing lights of the police cars that had converged on the scene. Detective Briggs stood alongside Superintendent Dante, their eyes scanning the lifeless form that lay on the cold concrete. The victim was a young nurse, her uniform stained with blood, her eyes frozen in a permanent stare. A look of shock seemed to be etched on her face.
Her name was Sophia Mwansa, and from what they knew, she was a dedicated professional with a promising career ahead of her. But now, she lay motionless, a victim of a crime that seemed to be shrouded in mystery.
Superintendent Dante turned to Briggs, his expression grim. "What do we have here, Briggs?"
Briggs shook his head, his eyes still taking in the scene. "Not much yet, sir. We're still processing the evidence, but it looks like a robbery might have gone wrong."
Dante's eyes narrowed. "A robbery? That's not what the preliminary report said. It mentioned something about a possible connection to her work at the hospital."
Briggs's phone buzzed again, and he glanced at the screen. The message from the unknown number still lingered, "Look into Israel Isherwood." He decided to share it with Dante. "Sir, I think we might have something. I received a message about an hour ago, mentioning Israel Isherwood's name."
Dante's expression turned thoughtful. "Israel Isherwood? That's a name I've heard before. Let's get more information on him and see if he's connected to Sophia Mwansa."
