Elements and Emotions
Falling Falling Falling
My sensory world is engrossed in rushing air.
I feel nothing for support as my equilibrium free falls.
Pressure drums in my ears as the sky rips tears from my eyes.
Limbs flail,
heart pounds,
max velocity,
where is the ground?
Sinking Sinking Sinking
There was no splash and the light is fading.
Water grips everything as inextinguishable fire grips my lungs.
Twilight gives to dark descent.
Lowering eyes,
relinquishing muscles,
weightlessness,
what is that sound?
Shivering Shivering Shivering
A cold breeze whispers a chilling message.
I stare at the bare branches from my white bed.
The falling blanket brings no warmth.
Black fingertips,
obscured vision,
packed silence,
will I be found?
Burning Burning Burning
The shifting sands sting with rage.
The more I pound the sand, the more it consumes.
I open my mouth to scream, and the scorching grains find a new torture.
Blood boiling,
cracked façade,
entombed,
am I forever bound?
Howling Howling Howling
The sounds reverberate.
Screams for survival.
In the forest one life is taken for another.
Frozen fear,
impending doom,
natural order,
why have the voices drowned?
Nothing Nothing Nothing
I awake in my bed, secure and safe.
Yet the sensations still torment.
Varieties of pain I can't explain.
Air, water, snow, sand, and tree.
The pain does not compare.
I miss having you around.
