Synopsis
Adrian Vale was never supposed to matter.
Not to me.
Not in the way he eventually did.
At first, he was just someone orbiting the edges of my life — familiar enough to recognize, distant enough to ignore. The kind of man women looked at twice and regretted immediately after.
Quiet. Controlled. Dangerous in the subtle kind of way.
The worst kind.
I should’ve known better than to let him get close.
But proximity is a cruel thing.
And loneliness is even crueler.
Somewhere between midnight conversations, lingering glances, and the slow destruction of boundaries that were never supposed to blur, Adrian stopped feeling forbidden…
…and started feeling inevitable.
He had someone else.
A life already tangled with another woman.
Responsibilities. History. Promises.
But none of that stopped the way he looked at me.
Like he was fighting himself every second we were together.
Like wanting me was becoming a problem.
And maybe that should’ve scared me more.
Because love was never the dangerous part.
Obsession was.
What we had didn’t bloom gently.
It consumed slowly — in stolen moments, in almost touches, in silence heavy enough to ruin us both.
People think heartbreak arrives all at once.
They’re wrong.
Sometimes it arrives quietly…
and makes itself at home inside you before you even realize you’re doomed.
