Chapter 1: Invintation

“A long time ago there was a petty war.”

“Between countries? OH no, but between ourselves, how lovely. All because one day over fifty percent of our population developed what we call ‘powers’ and now people are flying, lifting cars, heck! pardon my language ladies and gentlemen, but some people here mutated, far human. Then suddenly, a human who has the power of a literal angle appears out of nowhere and everything

The press room filled with hundreds of reporters mumbling questions, rumours bubbling and journalists debating. The room was divided by confusion and anger. But what stood out most was, if this guy was their future leader?

Reporter: “Mr. Butch, sir! looking at the statistics there is a 2% of even being considered to put you as option to vote. Infact, how are you even here-”

Mr. Butch: “Quiet! I’m talking and you ALL are gonna listen. If we kill these pests, then the human will be as God intended-hey- get off me!” he struggled. Security was taking him away to be detained; it was like any other day in Region 1 press room.

A loudmouth like Mr. Butcher was, though he barely struggled being taken away. He must have given up after trying to convince the population not to accept what cannot be changed and destroy what is different in order to do ‘God’s’ work.

Who would think or do that?

As the crowd grew quieter and the tension only thickened, an announcement was made to the audience with a quick briefing with non-other that Captain Himari Vincent. Age 37, Region 1 Captain, Power: Ice., common rumour: Joined the war at the age of 16. If it was true, he has scars to prove it.

Himari: “The mic’s on? - okay. Ladies and gentlemen. I know the tension is thick and unsettling at the current moment, but I wish you all to stay calm as I gently inform you all there might be a bomb-”

And at once the entire crowed roared with screams and cries. Security did their best to calm them but how could they? there is an unlocated active bomb in the building filled with old and young people with only two emergency exits on each side and one double door in the centre back wall. Calm wasn’t doing the trick. A guard who was instructed to push through the panicking crowd to open the door but upon his arrival the door was... gone. Just grey painted wall. He quickly reported back to Captain, in a shaky and helpless tone as he spoke to the watch on the wrist.

Gabby: “The door, sir. it’s gone!”

Shocked, Himari bent down behind the wooden podium to listen to the report careful without the screams of people.

Himari: “Gone!?”

Gabby: “Completely vanished, sir. As if it was never there.

I can’t find any windows to open, just paintings. I think someone is morphing the entire building into an inescapable concrete box-”

Himari: “I’m going to need you to calm down and talk to. If what you’re saying is true that means the person or people that did this are in the crowd or already escaped.”

Gabby: “Captain-”

Himari: “We won’t have time for a full evacuation, so I need you to contact available Heros to shield people-”

2

Gabby: “Sir-The bomb-”

Himari: “I can see from here that Eric is using his bubbles to shield people and Madam P managed to evacuate half the people-”

Gabby: “SIR THE BOMB IS UNDER THE PODIUM-”

The video paused as it was yanked out of Mark’s hand by his twin sister Mai. She checks the video title and isn’t surprised that it is the footage of the so called bombing attack that happened to the Region one press room. With almost half a million views in the past 24 hours, a hundred thousand comments with theories of who was behind the attack, it came to know surprise that her brother, who’s body does not match his know it all personality at all would have his nose snooping around in possible theories and clues into solving this mystery all on his own. She gave a heavy sigh before placing the phone in her locker.

Mai: “This is the third time you watched that video since yesterday. Can you not, like, let it go.”

Mark: “Well I’m sorry if I’m interested in one of the biggest headlines in the news right now. Aren’t you interested in how nobody got seriously hurt when the explosion happened. Or how when it did, The Captain’s body wasn’t found, and the entire Hero organisation is not even talking about him like he wasn’t directly next to the explosion. How would you explain that, huh????”

Mai: “How many ours did you sleep last night?”

Mark: “huh?”

Mai: “Checks out. you forgot to oil your gears in your arms. your fingers get locked or something.” she grunts as shut her locker and making one last check in her bag. She grabbed the small bottle of oil from her ‘emergency Mark Stuff’ kit. She knelt down in front of Mark who was sat on the benches and started with his left arm, slowly as he focused on joints and connections.

Mark: “But you got be at least slightly curious... Maybe it’s mom-”

Mai: “No, I’m not curious, I’m more interested about results day.” She basically

Mark: “That’s next week. We worked hard so I’m sure we beat that 00.01% pass rate-”

Mai: “uh no, today. Infact, the gates are opening.”
