1.INTRODUCTION
Once there was a child , who named as Samson, And age of samson is 8, He is from a lower middle class family, he always in a depressive mood and always looks like a dull boy I mean he’ll be inactive all the time and also inexpressive too, this child has a huge personality through his age and he has a somewhat ugly face and this boy always fails in everything except in studies i.e. , he failed to make good friends, and failed to win every games like cricket, kabaddi, basketball and other games.so through his inexpressiveness any other children is not at all interested to make him friend, so that boy is depressed himself, as of now he is growing but his behaviour and life isn’t changed anymore.
The boy has grown somewhat, now samson’s age is 12 but still the life of samson is routine bored and sad. One day in school there is a sports day celebration at a particular date so as per the event school faculty will conduct games before the sports day, one of the faculty has come to class and announced about the sports day event and competitions of games carroms, chess, cricket , running and some other games and that faculty went off after announcing, and then the students in the class started making a list of players for cricket, and samson likes cricket a lot he always puts his hundred percent efforts in the game but luck never supported him and samson went to the students ho were making a list and asked to add his name too but the students teased him by saying first of all do you know cricket? then samson depressed and answered please I will play good game add my name to but no one believed him but he begged students to add his name then the students showed kindness on him and added his name to for the cricket game. and it’s a game day now, the game has been started and all of the boys are giving the good performance and he again begged for bowling an over in a game but no one believed him and samson started crying, after seeing samson cry, samson’s classmates again showed kindness and gave ball to him to bowl an over, and the ground doesn’t co-operated samson and he leaked a lot of runs and that over changed the game to a favour for opponents and at last samson’s team lost the game and came out from the competition , everyone has played very well and also kept extra efforts too including samson but samson’s hard work favoured opponents all the team mates were very depressed at that moment but actually they need to accept the result at the end .
After completing the match every one trolled, teased, blamed samson for his poor form in the game and also some of them bet samson. samson is injured both mentally and also physically and he disappointed a lot depressed with the consequences of the failure and he fell in a very lonely situation of mood and he didn’t ate food for some days even though he didn’t expressed and didn’t shared anything about the game and the fight with his friends and also but he was too dull in the home, by seeing samson depressed his parents asked a lot about what happen to him? and why he is very dull and depressed? but even though his parents forced him to say but samson never shared his failure consequences effects but here he has an habit to share everything to his grandfather who is already died, samson expresses his all the feelings to his grandfather by standing in front of his grandpa’s photo and he treats his grandfather as a god he worship grandpa a lot even he will not go to temples he only devotes his grandfather who is already died but he never seen his grandfather socially because his grandfather died very early when samson’s father is in teenage but samson heard a lot of good things about his grandfather and from the early age only he devotes his grandfather and it is just the belief bond about the grandfather and he feels like his grandfather is always supports him and listens what is samson saying and he will come for samson at highly required time and after his parents going to sleep he went to his grandpa’s photo and praised and shared about what is happen in the competition by crying and this time samson is very angry and depressed, fired on his grandfather by asking “what happen to you ?, why you are not reacting? and what the hell you are doing when I am in trouble? and samson got a doubt that his father is coming out the quickly he went to his bed to sleep.
After many days also his friends, students and also teachers teased him very badly and even the juniors also teased him that gave more depression to him but no one took a stand for his side, but he never reacted for anyone and actually this looks like revolution against samson, and the bad phase of life torcher him in a very less age but he accepted everything, the depression continues for samson. slowly samson trying to get out from depression and it comes to the end of the academic year almost his third standard was filled with depression and now he promoted to the fourth class and actually in this much of bad luck and depression also he did not let his education disturbed and he got the very good marks in the final exams i.e., in annual exams of third standard he is one of the topper in the class and he has got fourth rank in the examination results that gives him just a bit of relaxation from the depression and it’s holidays now . in holidays he just hoped that it will be good time to overcome from the depression.
In holidays all the kids usually play cricket in the playground all the boys. On a particular day all the boys grouped and going to the playground and no one called samson but he was excited to go there and samson went back of them and he seen that all the boys are selecting the teams for the game cricket. He quickly went to them and asked them to hire him too for playing cricket but from all the boys most of them are same school and juniors of samson they not allowed samson to play cricket with them and he started begging to allow him to play but they were less aged than samson and the whole evening he asked, praised them to allow but no one convinced and same thing happens in every evening.
One fine day all the boys were tiered to say no and after long requesting the boys were very kind about samson and they allowed samson to play cricket with them and samson finally felt very happy through the boys acceptance to play cricket, and again at the back of mind and back of samson all the boys discussed about they allowed samson to only get the ball when it goes to the forest area or into the plants but samson doesn’t know about it. And as per the boy’s thoughts they let samson to get the ball they treat samson as just a ball boy in cricket. But samson still not understand the boy thoughts and still hoping to play batting and bowling and he is just hoping with very patience and the game comes to the end for the day. Samson asked the boys that “why you people didn’t give chance to bowling and batting”? and the boys replied just relax in today’s game your performance is not required at the moment tomorrow you’ll definitely get both batting and bowling too.
And the very next day’s game it has been repeated the same, samson became ball boy again for the whole game and at end samson again asked boys the same question and boys also repeated the same as see you tomorrow.
The exact thing happened for many days samson now realised that the boys not letting him to bowl and also bat and he got frustrated again and depressed again. After some days the boys again felt kind about samson and gave bowling in some crucial situation the game is in favour of opponents and samson again leaked runs and the opponents won the match as similar in past school level tournament but this time the game was not in favour of samson’s team but again all the boys trolled samson very badly and samson depressed and fired on boys all the boys attacked and pick a fight with samson this time samson injured severely and again samson depressed and after going home samson’s father fired on boys who attacked samson. The depression again continues…!
As the days went by, Samson’s depression deepened. He had always felt like an outsider, but now, after the sports day disaster, the sense of alienation was even more profound. Every day felt like a new struggle to get through. He couldn’t escape the taunts of his classmates, the whispering behind his back, or the mockery during lunch breaks when they would mimic his failed attempts at sports.
Each time the boys in his class made fun of him, it stung. It was as though their words were daggers, cutting deeper than anything physical. Samson tried to hide his pain behind a mask of indifference. On the outside, he appeared calm, unbothered. But inside, he was a storm of emotions—sadness, frustration, and anger. His only solace was his studies, where he could focus on something that didn’t require interaction with anyone else.
At home, the situation didn’t improve. His parents, though loving, could see something was wrong, but Samson wouldn’t talk to them. They would ask him why he was so withdrawn, why he wasn’t eating properly, or why he had become so quiet. But Samson never spoke up. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to; it was because he didn’t know how to express what was inside him. He had grown so accustomed to being silent that speaking about his pain seemed almost impossible.
In the evenings, after school, Samson would retreat to his room. He found comfort in his books, in the quiet of his own thoughts. But even that was tainted. The stories he read were filled with heroes, brave characters who triumphed over adversity. But Samson didn’t feel like a hero. He felt like the villain in his own story, trapped in a world that seemed to turn its back on him.
Sometimes, when his mind would wander, he would think about the future. He would picture himself in high school, and the image was always the same: Samson, alone in the back of the classroom, too afraid to speak up, too scared to even look at his classmates. He saw no way out of this cycle of misery. It seemed endless.
But even in this dark time, there were glimpses of light. The small victories, though rare, were enough to keep him going. One such victory came when his teacher praised him for his excellent marks in the final exams. He had scored high on the math test, a subject that many of his classmates struggled with. That fleeting moment of recognition made Samson feel something he hadn’t felt in a long time: pride. It wasn’t much, but it was something.
When his classmates didn’t notice his achievements, Samson didn’t mind. After all, they had never cared about his grades, only his failure on the cricket field. That moment, though brief, gave him a sense of worth, something he desperately needed. It was as if, for a moment, the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders.
But it wasn’t enough to chase away the sadness. Even as he looked at his exam results, feeling a small sense of pride, he couldn’t ignore the loneliness that plagued him. No matter how well he did in school, he still felt like an outcast. The boys at school still teased him about his appearance, still mocked him for his inability to play sports, and every time they did, it chipped away at whatever self-esteem Samson had left.
The holidays brought no respite. It was a time for other kids to have fun, play games, and enjoy the freedom from schoolwork. But for Samson, the holidays were just another reminder of how isolated he was. He spent his days indoors, watching the other children play cricket, soccer, and basketball in the park. They laughed, they joked, and they ran around, carefree and full of energy. But Samson stayed on the sidelines, too scared to ask if he could join them, knowing that he would only be met with rejection.
One evening, as he sat at home, looking out the window at the other children playing in the park, a familiar wave of despair washed over him. He had never been good at sports, and no one ever gave him a chance. Even now, as the other boys played, Samson knew they wouldn’t let him join. He wasn’t a part of their world. He was just the boy who couldn’t play, the boy who was always left behind.
But then, something unexpected happened. One of the younger boys from his class approached him. It was the same boy who had once teased him, but today, he had a different look in his eyes. “Hey, Samson,” the boy said tentatively. “Do you want to play cricket with us?”
Samson blinked, surprised. He hadn’t expected this. He looked at the boy, unsure of how to respond. “Are you sure?” Samson asked, his voice barely above a whisper. “I mean… you all always make fun of me.”
The boy shrugged, a sheepish smile on his face. “We were wrong before. You’re good with books. Maybe you can help us with strategy or something.”
It wasn’t much, but it was a start. Samson felt a flicker of hope, a tiny spark that maybe, just maybe, things could change. So, he nodded. “Okay,” he said, his voice shaky but determined.
For the first time in a long time, Samson felt like he was being seen for something other than his failures. The other boys still didn’t treat him as an equal, but this small act of kindness gave him a brief glimpse of what it might feel like to belong. He joined the group and stood quietly at the edge of the game, watching the others play, wondering if this could be the moment that changed everything.
The next day, Samson was allowed to join the game again, though he was still treated more like a ball boy than an active participant. He wasn’t given a chance to bowl or bat, but he felt a glimmer of hope in the fact that they hadn’t rejected him outright. He practiced, watching how the others played, learning from their movements and techniques. And though he still felt like an outsider, he could feel something shifting inside of him. Maybe it wouldn’t happen overnight, but maybe just maybe he could turn things around.
As the days went on, Samson’s resolve grew stronger. He would show them. He would show them all that he was more than they thought he was. But for now, he was content to take things one day at a time.
