The day before school

In my city, we have three radio towers, but we are in a dead zone, more precisely in a zone without any signal, radio, internet or anything. Everywhere except on the periphery which is too far from the center. Fortunately, my family lives on the outskirts. Unfortunately for me, I’m at home. Because of the school located in the center. I honestly didn’t think it would be difficult, I think a little life without the Internet can’t hurt. One doesn’t know how dependent we are on the internet until one disconnects. Of course I took my laptop because it’s impossible that there really isn’t any signal, but obviously the stories were true. so I decided to keep a journal to keep this bit of sanity.

One day befor scool

My father woke me up at 8 o’clock. The vacation ended too quickly, I didn’t expect it to be like this. The vacation flew by, the 8th grade was an interesting experience, it still amazes me how they didn’t even get kicked out. My company was, quite simply, very questionable, we made fun of those teachers. We were making shit that no one could put together. Once we threw a firecracker in the corner of the teachers. It was fierce, the woman jumped out of fear. they called the police, I can’t say that I wasn’t scared at that moment, I knew that they wouldn’t have gotten out of that situation if our leader Ivan wasn’t from a wealthy family that held a large part of the city in their hands. That’s why the three of us got away. Someone had to be guilty and it was the poorest, and that was Igor. We said that it was his plan. Nobody cared, all they listened to was Ivan, who had the gift of hiring people, with that smile of his that said he had never done anything bad in his life, even though we all knew who and what he was, but it was either with him or against, I never thought it would actually be like that. Unfortunately it was. I’m not pretending to be innocent, I should have thought about my own consequences. I should have said something while they were handcuffing him and taking him to the police car. He didn’t resist or fight, he just looked at us in our direction. I was scared at that moment for nothing but the way Igor was looking at us in our direction with disgust and the knowledge that his future was stolen from him because of us people who messed with life. Because of us, he lost, he got 4 years in juvenile prison and 17 in prison.

I was never the same after that.

My father told me to start getting ready and to leave at 9. I wanted to “kill myself” because I had to wake up again. My father warned me a few more times that it is not good to be late until the day I leave for the home. I didn’t care he didn’t know what was eating me up inside and what happened to me. I still have nightmares from that day. I hope if I ignore my problems they will eventually go away but unfortunately they never do, anyway I can still hope right? Father came to pick me up once again with a look that said I’m not young, but I’m very disappointed and scared for you. I never liked when he did that, but I knew it was better than introducing it into the story and listening to lectures. Unfortunately, I rather place that he saw my reluctance to have that conversation. He just walked into the room looking at the clock. Asking if he could sit next to me. I nodded in agreement. He made no effort to hide the slight smile on his tired face. He looked at his watch again. We’ve got a little extra time before the toast and scrambled eggs. You want to talk about something, you’ve been acting strange lately, I’m afraid for you. What happened to Igor was not your fault. Everyone has to make their own decisions and live with them. His story made my blood run cold and tormented me that the three of us should have been in his place and that Igor was innocent and we were guilty. I wanted to lash out and tell the truth. At that moment, I remembered that no one would believe me, and if someone did believe me, they wouldn’t achieve anything with it. Because the moment Ivan found out, I ended up next to Igor and would have fared much worse than Igor. Maybe even worse because I’m sure Ivan would not forget this disobedience. Maybe not right away, maybe never even, but knowing Ivan, someone would have pushed me the moment the cameras in the cell failed. The guards were not in the room and I accidentally fell off the bed and broke my neck. That’s how it would end. no one would know my name or surname, no one would even remember who I am and what I do. There would be another accident in the books another issue. I will not allow myself to do that, never fear living a coward but a dead hero. Heroes are only those who decided to go against everyone for what they believed to be true and right. And because of that, they no longer exist in this world. “Winners write history” is true, but winners are not the most heroes. They are most often cowards and cheaters. People who killed the last shred of honor and decided to sell their “soul”. They win and how their loved ones see them is absolutely irrelevant. I’m not going to lie, I have an undesirable respect for such people. Although I probably shouldn’t have that opinion about them. My father interrupted me in the recovery. He asked me if everything was okay and I said okay. Of course I said yes and that I was still nervous about Igor and about the new school. He told me that he understands and that I shouldn’t cancel myself because of someone because everyone has to live with their decisions and their consequences. He began to descend the stairs to the kitchen. And I shouted, breakfast is ready. And not to delay because the breakfast is getting cold. I got up, got dressed, packed my things: toothbrush, toothpaste, sweatshirts, T-shirts, tracksuits, underwear and that’s it. When I went down to the kitchen, toast and scrambled eggs were waiting for me on the table. Father was adjusting his tie. Because he was in a green suit, with a waistcoat and a shirt. I’m not going to comment on his weird fashion sense. I’m just not getting on that titanic ever again. I mean bosses can dress as they want if they have enough money. When he realized that I was looking at him, he said “Aren’t I beautiful” with a smile. I just smiled back at him. And I started to eat just because I don’t want a lecture about food and how breakfast is the most important part of the day, but what are you going to do, it’s what you want. The eggs have already cooled down and become runny. I ate them all one by one. We left at 9. Before we left the garage, my father asked me if you had brought everything? I remembered I forgot my laptop. I ran out of the car without saying a word. I ran into the house and my room and grabbed my laptop charger and turned on the radio, because I find radio stations more convenient than searching for music. Although I also use apps for listening to music. I put them in my laptop bag. I left the house, locked the door, put the spare key back in the lavender flower pot. I got into the car, my father was smiling at me and was very surprised. He told me that you don’t need it anyway there is no smiley signal. I replied that I had heard stories and that I did not believe in them and that I considered them to be nonsense. I don’t believe that they are correct, it is impossible that they said it right, but no one believes it until they see it for themselves because of the mountains that surround the entire gorge, which is 50 and 80 miles wide. There are no mountains at the entrance to the city, but we pass through 24 km of forest. So it’s going to be a fun and long drive. Advice: sleep and rest. We arrive at 11:45, while we have to be at the home at 12:00. That’s why you need to rest and sleep and find some new friends. He smiled at me again. You know, maybe this will help you. After all, maybe this will help you keep on giving. Take a nap, maybe you’ll clear your mind. Try to rest and remember I love you always.

We were driving on the road, it was dark and foggy. I was not aware at what point I fell asleep and when I fell asleep and when I fell asleep. My father just knocked on my window and said that we have arrived. He took my things from the trunk of the car and started walking, handing me the things in the bag and my backpack. We headed towards the main entrance. He looked at the clock and said that we were 2 minutes late and that I should slow down so that they would be on time.

When we got to the main gate, they were already starting to enter. My father asked a man if he knew where some teachers were and gave someone a dream. The man raised an eyebrow and said that they are ahead but that he cannot help us because he has to help his daughter with her luggage. His daughter was a girl with long brown curly hair with freckles on her face and square glasses. His father told him that we could wait. While the man said that it is not in our interest because we have satanak before the allocation to the rooms. The father said he understood and was glad they met. We headed in the direction of the others and entered the first hall we came across. A woman saw us and asked what we needed, if anything. My father explained to her what we were looking for. Understanding, she turned around and said that we should follow her. She was a beautiful woman with blue eyes, black hair and a dark complexion. She led us to the teacher’s office. She turned to my father who was looking at the clock. She asked him visibly surprised, what is my teacher’s name? He looked and said Andrija Petrović. She turned to the teacher on duty. He already said sala 5 while drinking coffee. We headed for the stairs and before we reached the hall we saw a tall man in jeans and a white button down shirt. He turned to the woman and asked Tamara how you are doing. She was cowering and red with anger and said I found you one of the group. What gentleman and boyfriend. He turned to us and said the guy’s name. I answer to Pavle Golubović. Room 201 is on the list. Roommates: Igor Grujić and Stefan Nikolić. Let’s move to the second floor.

I looked at my father, he gave me things and said I’m proud of you, son, I’m going. I went down to the room and saw that the beds were already occupied except for one by the wall. I made my bed and went to sleep, tomorrow is a new day.
