Chapter 1: The Library Girl and the Mafia King

The library smelled like old pages and vanilla-scented candles—the kind of scent that calms even the loudest minds.

She sat quietly behind the counter, a soft smile on her face, her fingers brushing over the pages of a book she had read a dozen times before. Her world was simple—sweet tea, whispered laughter of students, and neatly stacked books. That’s all she needed.

She was clumsy, always bumping into corners, dropping pens, and laughing at herself. A sunshine girl in a world full of shadows.

She didn’t know he had entered.

He walked in alone.

Black boots. Black gloves. Black coat.

A presence that could freeze the air.

No guards. No noise.

Only heavy silence and footsteps that carried the weight of power.

Every student instinctively lowered their gaze, sensing something was wrong—off. But she… she didn’t notice. Not yet.

He walked to the last shelf at the back—business section. His gloved fingers grazed the spines of the books, until a few suddenly slipped and thudded loudly onto the wooden floor.

Students gasped. Silence broke.

She flinched.

Quickly getting up from the counter, she rushed toward the noise, her brows furrowed in concern.

She reached him—still not looking at his face properly—and bent down to pick up the books, muttering softly under her breath.

> “What are you doing? Don’t you see students are studying here? Can’t you pull out a book without making noise?” she scolded gently, her voice soft but firm.

“Which book do you want? Tell me—I’ll help you. Are you new here?”

He didn’t move. Didn’t blink.

He stared.

It was the first time in years someone had spoken to him like that.

No fear. No trembling. No stuttering.

Just a girl who cared about peace in her little library.

> “Business-related,” he finally whispered. “Or something dark… thrilling.”

She tilted her head and pointed behind him.

> “Come, follow me,” she said without waiting. “That section’s here. But read quietly, okay? Or I’ll have to ask you to leave.”

And she walked away—unbothered.

He followed her.

She showed him the shelf and walked back to her counter like nothing had happened.

But he stood still.

Frozen.

Eyes locked on her, his mind blank.

He didn’t understand what was happening.

He was never looked at like that. Never spoken to like… a normal person.

She didn’t know who he was. And yet she walked past him like he was no one.

He was the most feared man in the city.

A mafia king. Cruel. Merciless. Dangerous.

He owned a mansion bigger than any government building.

His guards were trained to kill. His rules were law.

But in that quiet library... he was just a man.

And she was the first thing that ever made his heart skip a beat.
