Well-written, well-plotted and, well, it's funny
"I enjoyed this book, and its previous sister book, which is really Book One of the series.. A well-plotted and well-written story, which hangs together beautifully. It has a sense of reality even though it's high fantasy. It actually made me look up Buckhannon and Upshur, and yes, they are of course real - although I assume there is not an actual reality architect working there. It's very funny, and also an excellent and realistic portrait of a shut-in who has to face up to reality. I'm not sure how a third book could run, but I hope the author can find a way forward, that stays funny. A good book. Well done. As an aside - I can quibble with some of the details. Elected representatives are by definition not "bureaucrats". It's a horrible word, but it's used to describe hard-working, under-paid public servants. Their job is to implement the stupid legislation and stupid regulations created by stupid politicians and voters. But Americans have been taught to blame them for that stupidity, not the actual culprits. "
