Prologue

AMARA

I pulled down my black hood over my head and looked at the tall, beautiful palace that stood majestically, the front gate of the palace is heavily guarded by men with a gun on their shoulders.

“Now, all the newly recruited maids follow me,” A man in his late 30s spoke in front of us and we all followed him towards the front gate.

The guards recognized the man and nodded their heads to him “Open up the gate!” the guard shouted loud to the people inside, the massive gate creaked as it slowly swung open.

We walked towards the entrance of the palace, inside the palace guards are roaming around guarding the palace from the left to right.

“I am William Stonesburg and I am the castle steward, nice to meet all of you,” he introduced himself and stopped walking, “This is Sylvia,” He pointed an elderly woman with a strict and firm face in front of us “The head maid of the palace, she will give you a quick tour around the palace and she will also assign you to your respective roles around the palace,”

Sylvia and Williams nodded at each other, and he went directly towards the big door of the palace. When he opened the palace door, I looked but before I could see anything he closed the door shut.

“Follow me, everyone!” Sylvia shouted that made the others jump in surprise and fear, she proceeds to walk to the side of the palace, I looked around the palace memorizing the layout. “All of you will be on cleaning duty, everything must be sparkly clean! Got it?” She suddenly turned around and looked at us, all of us nodded at her, “No slacking, and must follow all the orders! If not, you will be kicked out!”

Sylvia give us a quick tour around the palace and told us where will be cleaning, the supplies, and where will be stationed everyday. She also lectures what the Dos and Don’ts when meeting the royalties.

She also introduced us to the other castle maids, gardener, and etc., some are nice and some have gloomy face.

When we are inside the maid’s headquarters all of us have separate rooms, Sylvia assigned which room is ours.

“Tomorrow will be your first duty, got it? If any of you will have a mistake, you wont have a job here again,” She told us and left.

“Wow, Miss Sylvia is really strict,” I heard the other maid said “I know, but more importantly I can see the royalties up close!” the other maid squealed.

I head directly to my room and put my things down, then I scanned every inch of the room. I grabbed my bag and reached out my notebook with a pen, and write down the details that I’ve got so far roaming around the palace.

It’s now night time past midnight, I sneaked out of the headquarters towards the maze garden of the castle. I saw a few guards roaming around but I sneaked past them.

I dropped down on my knees when I’ve heard a stomping sound, I slightly looked up and saw a guard a few meters away from me. I quietly crawled until I get far away from him.

I sat down behind a bush and looked behind and saw the royal guard is now gone. I directly went to the maze garden and go towards at the end of the maze.

If Amell didn’t give me a map to this maze, I will reschedule at the end in the morning.

I’ve reached at the end of the maze a tall wall infront of me with vines. I tried to climb the vines but the vines are too thin and vulnerable.

I’ve reached the vines at the near top but as soon as I reached it, a voice spoke behind me.

“Can I help you, miss?” my eyes widened and suddenly the vine broke, and my body fell. my body did not fall to the hard pavement but this guy catched me.
