It’s a wonderful day just looking at the blue sky, and feeling the strong but sweet calming wind coming from the South East, while laying down our school’s terrace!, a girl at about fifteen thought happily. I am Ogy, my family and friends call me this since my real name is Ognyea, Chi. I live a simple life as a teen-ager in Slavic Republic. Though we have a nice environment here, I can’t seem to forget how modern our country is now. Though, flying cars and robots roam everywhere, nature still thrives since we kept our forests, seas and wildlife protected, preserved.
Haa….sh*t!, Ogy said since she’ll be late for dance practice. Slovak High is an all-girls school where cultural festivals still give honors for the Fire Dance which was our ancestors’ way of paying their respects to our gods and goddesses in the olden times. This dance symbolizes purification, transformation and renewal. It cleanses, purifies and brings good luck to the dancers and burn away negativity for good fortune.
Here, we, as dancers, wear a balloon-like skirt with metal frames on its hem which can be lit with fire when we dance and turn around for effects. Cool huh! Well, not that very, when we accidentally catch ourselves on fire, hihi! That would certainly become a popular news online and a disaster for us dancers who keep this tradition afloat just for the sake of keeping it! It makes no sense but yeah!..., Ogy thought.
When Ukraine and Russia’s war happened in the 21st century, it lasted for a decade but nothing was really achieved from it but lost lives, homes and destroyed countries. Then, other countries followed the stupid Putin’s footsteps and waged war against their opponents, only to find sadness, hate and death. Russia and Ukraine’s economy hit several loses and life here became poor. However, when a new leader named Serabika snatched the office from Putin with a landslide, she made sure that Russia will return to its glory and economic supremacy but failed to keep our culture intact. My parents are from Crimea, Ukraine but my dad is born in Donetsk, Russia.
They decided to stay in Donetsk because we can freely live there without being contested of our birth origin. And since most of the nations in the world now is run by a Supreme Leader, who lives by principle of truth, courage, kindness, empathy, faith and transparency. She is the ultimate example for us girls that ever since wars subsided and peace triumphed over greed and sexism, we are now living in a world, universe where there is justice, calm, prosperity and happiness. However, my parents wanted a peaceful life, so they moved to Bulgaria, in the town of Balgari since my grandpapi and mami are born here.
Ogy!!! It’s time…., another girl called out to our protagonist. Alright, I’m coming!. So, see you later!, Ogy told the tiny ants running around in line for scraps of bread not far from where Ogy laid down to appreciate the blue sunny skies.
It is indeed a beautiful day today!
