The cracks beneath the Flag
I. The Cracks Beneath the Flag
The world once saw the United States not just as a country, but as a pillar. Of democracy. Of freedom. Of order.
Its flag didn’t just wave on its own soil. It flew in the minds of dissidents, reformers, dreamers. It stood as a beacon, flawed, yes, but brighter than the alternatives.
And Europe? We stood beneath its wings. We outsourced war and peace, ideology and infrastructure. We spoke of independence, but whispered when Washington frowned. And now, the pillar is cracking, not from without, but from within.
The enemy is no longer communism or jihadism. It is disinformation, division, and internal decay.
And what do we do? We hope. We wait. We pretend the eagle is only shedding feathers, not dying.
