Chapter 1

In the beginning, the God of Good ruled over the world.

He had created a realm of peace and joy. His children, the angels, lived in laughter and light, playing at their Father’s side.

All shared in this happiness… except one.

One child stood always apart. God went to him, but the child turned away. God tried again, and again, yet the child would not answer.

So God asked his children:

Why does my child not wish to be with you?

And the angels replied:

Father, he ignores you. He does not deserve your joy.

But God said:

No, no, no. This child must also live in happiness.

Still, the child remained alone. And the laughter of the angels filled the heavens. God rejoiced to hear it, never knowing that their laughter was turned against the solitary child.

Ha, ha, ha! Look at him, over there! Alone!

Then God asked:

Does it bring you joy to see one who is alone? Very well. For your happiness, I will create Man. You shall watch over them.

The angels laughed as they watched mankind.

But one day, all the angels were slain.

God wept, crying out:

Where is my joy? Where has it gone?

Then the solitary child came forth and said:

Father, at last I understand.

And he slew God.

He sat upon the throne and took His place.

Then he spoke to mankind:

Make war. Make war until only one of you remains.

And so men waged war for a thousand years.

When the wars ended, there was but one survivor: a child, standing alone.

The new God laughed:

Ha, ha, ha! I am the God of Evil. And you… you are me.
