Queen Of Wealth

I was sitting in my office, coffee in hand, enjoying the view outside. Suddenly, someone bursts in through the door, almost giving me a heart attack. "Diane! Not again?! This is the 10th assistant in a month!" Caroline shouted like it was my fault. She's my best friend/ manager whom I love but sometimes she yells alot like right now. "Not my problem. She was a chatterbox. Always trying to make small talk and tell her personal life stories like I could careless about her life." I said checking my emails. "So you traumatize the poor girl?! I know you hate small talk but you have to stop scaring away your assistants." She said not even trying to argue. "Why do I even need assistants? They are all the same. Always trying to be people pleasers." I asked annoyed. "Because you need the extra help. And maybe you'll like this new guy. He'll be here for his interview so you better not scare him off too." She left glaring at me.

I went outside to check on how everyone was doing. Until I saw him, waiting in the waiting area. Alexander Ferraro?! What's he doing here?! I decided to go up to him. "Diane? Diane Ashford? It's so crazy to see you here." He said smiling. Maybe he had changed? "Hey... Alexander. What a coincidence." I said trying not to sound nervous. "Are you a janitor here or something?" He asked with a grin.

And there he was. To think he had changed. I was about to reply to him and make his stupid face regret saying that. But, Caroline interrupted.

"Hey, Alexander. Are you ready for the interview?" Caroline asked sweetly. "Hi, yes I'm ready." He replied. He followed Caroline into the room. "Who knows maybe I'll be your boss." He said grinning like an idiot.

Oh this was gonna be fun.

"Take a seat in there. I need to have a quick chat with Diane." Caroline said still smiling. "I do not want him here Caroline." I said annoyed at the thought of him even coming in my company. "Well... You have no choice. He's the only person I could find who agreed to this position." Caroline said giving me the look.

"Fine. But I'll tell you I'll make him regret stepping foot here." I said to her. "What even is your problem with him? He's so cute, handsome maybe smart too." She said as if she had gotten hypnotized.

"Trust me he's just a walking, talking jerk with a pretty face." I said trying not to sound angry. I didn't want to tell her the things he did to me in the past. He called me names, played with my heart and younger me was so stupid to even think he'd actually like me. This was my chance to get revenge. To show him who the boss was. To show him I'm no longer that dumb girl he saw 8 years ago.
