Prologue – The Two Worlds
The lecture hall buzzed with the noise of students, but in the middle row sat Meher Tiwari, her hazel eyes glued to her notebook. A strand of her long brown hair fell over her cheek, and with an absent flick, she tucked it behind her ear. Her white coat made her look every bit the medical student she was—calm, diligent, and untouched by the shadows of the world outside. Her friends joked, her roommate tugged at her sleeve, but Meher remained the kind of girl who lived in her own world of dreams—where kindness healed wounds and love conquered everything.
To her family, she was their blessing. To her friends, she was the one who never judged, who always listened. But what she never knew was that her life was about to collide with someone whose world was the exact opposite of hers.
Far away, under the dim lights of a private bar, Advik Malhotra leaned back in his chair. Tall, sharp, with a gaze that could silence a room, he carried the weight of power on his shoulders as if he was born to it. The scar near his left brow glinted when the light hit it, a silent reminder of battles fought and survived. His tailored black suit clung to his lean muscular frame, his Rolex caught against the rim of his glass.
Around him, men waited for his command, their fear and respect stitched into their silence. One nod from him could end lives, one order could turn empires into dust. Yet behind those cold brown eyes, no one dared to search for the broken boy who had lost his mother too soon, who had grown up learning that love was a weakness, and mercy was a crime.
He belonged to the night, to danger, to shadows.
She belonged to light, to innocence, to hope.
And yet, fate was cruel enough to tie their worlds together.
For when sunshine meets darkness, neither escapes untouched.
