Chapter 01

For some unknown reason, failure followed failure, leaving Jungkook with nary a single day of peace.

From the moment he learned of his parents' death, everything changed irrevocably, not for the better, but for the worse.

Therefore, not a day, not even an hour, went by without him being pointed at by his so-called "peers."

Peers who looked at him with disgust, as if seeing something they believed shouldn't exist.

It was as if it were his fault his parents died in a fire when he was only five.

Consequently, he was just a little boy back then, whose life had turned into hell on earth in an instant.

It's no wonder, then, that he had long since lost track of how many foster homes he had been in.

It had become a routine for him, and he paid it no mind.

Over time, he learned to live with it.

Although it wasn't an easy task given the surroundings he was currently in.

Jungkook didn't know a day, night, or even a moment when he wouldn't hear words blaming him for something he obviously hadn't done.

He was sick of it and wanted it to finally end.

Maybe then they would understand that they were wrong about him, he secretly hoped.

After all, he had tried his best not to bother them, to fulfill their whims, so why did they continue to do so?

He still couldn't figure that out, no matter how hard he tried.

But on that fateful day, he was fed up with it all, and the bitterness overflowed.

It was no wonder he reacted the way he did; it was completely understandable.

“JUNGKOOK, HOW COULD YOU DO THIS, YOU PROMISED!,” screamed the out-of-control woman he was currently with, her voice sounding like a broken record.

You're probably wondering what was going on this time?

Especially since, as Jungkook had mentioned earlier, he wasn't one to go looking for trouble.

Or rather, one to whom problems came naturally, like in this case.

Especially since no matter how much he tried to avoid them, there was no way he could avoid them.

Which, as we all know, was the saddest part of it all, and there was nothing he could do about it.

No wonder, no matter how many times he explained it, no one believed him.

And they only believed those who tormented him without any restraint.

In his opinion, that was, frankly, sick, but there was nothing he could do about it.

If his biological parents were still alive, things would probably be completely different.

And therefore, they would surely believe him, but unfortunately, they didn't.

Therefore, he was doomed from the start, and no one was going to come to his aid.

Because in their eyes, he was just an orphan who had no right to object and should be grateful they let her into their home.

Which really did hurt him, but they didn't care.

To them, his feelings were essentially unnecessary.

To them, Jungkook was just a pawn, meant to show how good-natured they were by adopting someone like him from the orphanage.

And as we know, this was just for show, to protect their reputation.

So they did everything they could to make things work out as they had planned.

That was the unfortunate truth, but no one saw it, and even if they did, they shrugged it off and moved on.

Apparently, they didn't care about any of that and preferred to focus entirely on something so trivial.

They probably thought so, because they didn't even want to bother with it at all, as it was pointless.

"I didn't start it!," Jungkook screamed after a moment, unable to stand her ramblings any longer, about how bad he was and still was.

"Don't raise your voice! I already believe you didn't start it! You always say that, and I know what you're like, so don't talk back to me. Just go and apologize to him, and maybe he'll forgive you!," replied the woman, whom Jungkook had just been about to call his stepmother, or whatever he called her, but now, after her words, he'd changed his mind.

"I'll raise my voice as much as I want! And I'm not going to apologize to that bastard for constantly beating me up and humiliating me in front of everyone!," Jungkook roared, completely fed up with the fact that this woman refused to open her eyes, that her sissy was the real one, not him, as she had believed and probably would continue to believe.

“Now you've gone too far! You clearly need a good beating to understand your wrongdoings, just let your father come back!,” She snapped, wagging her finger at him, and he didn't care.

Because, after all, that man wasn't his real father.

So he wasn't going to be afraid of him, just as he didn't have to be afraid of her.

When he was younger, he might have been afraid, but now it was completely different.

He was more gullible then than now, when he was gaining more and more information with each passing moment.

He also noticed that when something was wrong, they would soon start moving.

As if they didn't want anyone to discover his location.

Which was starting to make him think something was up, because normally they wouldn't be moving around without a word.

If they weren't, they probably wouldn't be doing this, right?

He couldn't find any other explanation for their behavior, and that was the point.

“Yeah, you stupid woman overreacted! And you'd need a beating more to make you realize you're wrong! I'm leaving this fucked-up place I never intended to call home from the start! It's best if I go back to where you took me with that jerk you call your husband!,” Jungkook announced to her after a moment, heading for his pseudo-room.

A room that, truth be told, Jungkook wouldn't even call a room.

He didn't turn to her for a moment as he uttered those venomous words.

That's because he didn't care anymore about her, because she probably thought she was doing him a disservice by taking him out of the orphanage.

But she was dead wrong about that, just like the rest of her damn family, including her husband.

That's why he couldn't understand how they even qualified as foster parents; it was beyond him.

He just rolled his eyes, unable to listen to that shrill screeching anymore.

This woman didn't understand that Jungkook was being abused, threatened, and beaten.

Especially since he didn't know the day, let alone the hour, when they would abuse him again.

With her son at the helm, the leader of this entire gang of abusers.
