I found a true life partner
There was a strange fear in her heart about the wedding night. The first reason for this fear was probably that just a month ago, her uncle had talked about her relationship with Ravi.
'Sujata sister, your daughter-in-law is a piece of the moon, from where did you find her?' Mrs. Gupta said looking at the face of the new bride. 'It's all God's grace.' Sujata said with her hands folded. On one hand, Sujata was overjoyed to hear the praise of the bride's beauty, on the other hand, Rini, hidden behind the veil, was also turning pink with shame. Hearing people praise her beauty and seeing the happiness on her mother-in-law's face, her heart was at peace. Otherwise, since the farewell, she had a strange nervousness in her heart. What would the atmosphere of her in-laws' house be like? How would people be? What would they say? All these questions were troubling her inside. But this atmosphere of her in-laws' house had given her some relief.
By the time the 'Mooh Dikhai' and other rituals were completed, it was evening. Most of the guests had also left the house. Fatigue could be clearly seen on Rini's mother-in-law, Sujata's face, but she was still doing all the household chores very happily. But by evening, Rini's face, under the veil, started showing nervousness. As the time of Suhagrat was coming closer, her restlessness was increasing. Although every girl is a little nervous about the Suhagrat, but strange thoughts were arising in Rini's mind.
There was a strange fear in her heart about the Suhagrat, which was also natural. The first reason for this fear was probably that just a month ago, her maternal uncle had talked about her relationship with Ravi. And within a month, all the rituals from seeing the girl to engagement and marriage were completed. Everything happened so quickly that Ravi and Rini did not get time to meet or know each other. They could only talk on the phone, that too very rarely, because Ravi worked in a call center and Rini was a teacher in a private school. Often, they got a chance to talk on the phone only in the evening. However, in that short conversation, Rini understood that Ravi was a very ambitious and soft-natured person. Ravi's nature had created a little place of respect for him in Rini's heart. Perhaps this was the reason why she had said yes to the marriage. But the second or perhaps the main reason for her nervousness was the story of her friend Vineeta. Vineeta was Rini's best friend. Both of them had gone to school and college together.
Both of them spent their entire day studying, playing sports and gossiping. Forget about a day, they could not stay without each other for even an hour. Sometimes they would even spend the night at each other's house. Rini and Vinita's friendship was famous in the entire neighborhood. Their friendship was so deep that even their parents thought of getting them married in the same house.
But caste is also a thing, which sometimes becomes a wall between human relationships. Perhaps because of being of different castes, Vineeta and Rini's parents had to arrange marriages in different houses. Although both were of the same age, it took some time to find a good boy for Rini. Vineeta's marriage was soon fixed.
When Vineeta's marriage was fixed, Rini was the happiest and the saddest. On one hand, there was the happiness of Vineeta's marriage, but on the other hand, there was also the sadness of being separated from her dear friend. Although Rini knew that this was bound to happen one day or the other, she made a lot of noise at Vinita's wedding. But when the time came for Vinita's departure, both of them hugged each other and cried a lot.
Vineeta's condition was even worse than Rini's. Firstly, the fear of going to an unknown house and secondly, the sorrow of being separated from her dear friend. With great difficulty, both of them were separated and Vinita was sent off. After Vinita left, Rini sat alone in her room and cried for hours. With great difficulty, she ate a morsel of food in the evening, that too after hearing that Vinita was coming for the wedding two days later.
Well, on the day Vinita was to come, Rini reached her house early in the morning and started helping Vinita's mother in the preparations. Rini was repeatedly looking at the clock as to when Vinita would come home so soon that she could talk to her a lot about her in-laws' condition, her husband and the new house. Rini was also eager to see how Vinita would look as a new bride. Sindoor on her forehead, bangles on her hands, lipstick on her lips, just like a doll. Rini was thinking all this when she heard the car horn. She understood that Vinita had arrived.
“Vinita's condition was even worse than Rini's. Firstly, the fear of going to an unknown house and secondly the pain of being separated from her dear friend. With great difficulty, we separated the two and bid farewell to Vinita.”
Vinita got down from the car and ran and hugged Rini. She was crying profusely. It did not take Rini long to understand that something was wrong. But considering the delicacy of the situation, she did not think it appropriate to say anything to anyone or ask anything to Vinita. In the evening, when both of them were alone in the room, Rini asked Vinita- ‘Rini, tell me the truth, are you happy?’
Vineeta did not answer, but her silence was enough. Rini asked again, ‘Rini, tell me, what is the matter? You know that you will not be able to hide anything from me.’ Hearing Rini's words, Vinita cried a lot at first, but then, controlling herself, said- ‘Rini, this marriage is not like what we see in the movies. Everything is shown very well in the movies, whereas the reality is very different from the movies.’ ‘What happened, Vinni? Tell me, did your in-laws say anything? Did they demand dowry?’ ‘No, Rini, no one in your in-laws' house said anything like dowry.’ ‘Then what about Deven? Is Deven not a good man?’ ‘Yes, consider it something like that.’
‘Something? Tell me straight, what is the matter?'
'Rini, Deven looks as civilized and decent from outside as he is as brutal from inside.'
'Brutal! What do you mean Vini?'
Yes, Rini, he is really a beast.
Like every girl, I too had some dreams of the Suhaagraat. I had thought that I will happily start my life with a civilized and decent life partner like Deven. When he will come in the room, we both will talk to each other a lot, get to know each other. We will start our new life with love-filled dedication. But…' saying this, Vinitha became quiet. 'But what Vini? Tell me, why did you become quiet?'
'But Deven turned out to be a complete beast. That night, I was waiting for Deven on the decorated Suhaagraat bed. There was a stir in my mind and lots of dreams in my eyes. But while waiting, I fell asleep. After a while, I heard some noise, and I got up in fear. I saw that Deven was closing the door from inside. His hands were shaking. Somehow he locked the latch and came and sat next to me. He smelled of alcohol. He was completely drunk. I was terrified to see him in this state. As soon as he came, without saying anything, he caught my hand and started pulling me towards him. I tried hard to free myself, but his grip was so strong that I could not save myself. He forcefully took off my clothes and pounced on me like a hungry wolf. I protested, but he beat me a lot. He bit my body with his teeth at many places and trampled me badly. I was moaning in pain, but there was no one to listen to me. After satisfying his lust, he lit a cigarette and started smoking. When the cigarette was about to finish, do you know how he extinguished it?' Vinita removed her aanchal and showed the cigarette burn mark on her chest.
She also showed the other wounds on her body to Rini. Rini screamed and started crying. Hearing Rini's scream, Vinita's mother ran towards their room and knocked on the door. Rini opened the door. When she saw both of them crying, she understood that the matter was serious.
She asked Rini about everything. Rini did not think it right to hide anything from Vinita's mother at that time and told her everything while crying.
Due to the atrocities done to Vinita, Rini had developed a fear of marriage in her mind. She did not want to get married at all. But when all the family members and Vinita herself explained to her that not all men in the world are the same, then Rini agreed to get married.
When Vinita's mother saw the marks of wounds on her daughter's body, she understood that she had got not a human being but a cruel son-in-law. Vinita's mother was a very composed and fearless woman. Without caring about society, they did not send Vinita back to her in-laws' house and soon divorced Vinita and Deven.
Due to the atrocities done to Vinita, Rini had developed a fear of marriage. She did not want to get married. Not all men are the same, only then did Rini agree to get married. But even after saying yes to marriage or talking to Ravi on the phone, her fear had not completely gone. She was praying to God in her heart that her husband Ravi should not be like Deven.
Finally that moment came, due to which Rini was restless.
As soon as Ravi came into the room, Rini's heart started beating loudly. She felt that Ravi might also pounce on her like a hungry wolf, that he might also be drunk. But Ravi came inside and sat next to Rini. He started looking at Rini with a smile. Seeing his smile, Rini's heart beat slowed down a bit.
Ravi held Rini's hand very lovingly. Rini got a little scared. Ravi understood, but he did not leave Rini's hand even after understanding her confusion. He held Rini's hand tightly in both his hands and said, 'Look Rini, today our life is starting anew. I want us to start this by knowing and understanding each other well. Ours was not a love marriage, that we knew each other from before. In an arranged marriage, there is very little chance to understand each other. That's why I want us to become good friends first. If we become good friends, then only we will be able to become good husband and wife. 'When the husband and wife have love and dedication for each other, then every night of life is the wedding night. I believe that the union of the body gives complete happiness only when the union of the minds happens first. So tell me, will you want to become my friend?' Rini's heart got cooled after hearing Ravi's words. All her nervousness vanished in a few moments and she burst out laughing. She placed her other hand on Ravi's hand and said, 'I agree, partner!'
Rini understood from Ravi's loving touch and his sweet words that she has found a loving and understanding life partner.
