Prologue

The city never slept, but inside the towering glass walls of Blackwell Global Corporation, silence ruled the night.

Adrian Marcus Blackwell stood by his office window, the skyline glittering beneath him like diamonds scattered across velvet. Power. Control. Order. These were the pillars of his empire and the only things he allowed close to his heart.

Love? It had no place in his world. Love was a weakness. Love was a distraction.

At least, that’s what he believed. Until her.

He could still remember the first time he saw Amara Celeste Villanueva, eyes too bright, voice too soft, smile far too dangerous for someone who claimed to want nothing more than a career. She wasn’t supposed to matter. She was supposed to be just another face in the crowd, another ambitious employee who would learn to fear his name like everyone else did.

But then came that night.

The silence of the office, the tension in the air, the storm brewing inside both of them. One heated argument turned into one reckless moment. A kiss, fierce, forbidden, unstoppable.

It wasn’t supposed to happen.

It shouldn’t have happened.

Yet it did.

And Adrian knew, with bone-deep certainty, that nothing, not his empire, not his rules, not even the walls he built around himself would ever be the same again.

Because one kiss had changed everything.
