Chapter 1
Third person POV
It was a beautiful day in the city of California and Lana, a vibrant young lady in her mid 20s emerged from Mrs Pockets flower shop with a broad smile on her face, her arms laden with empty flower vases. Today's delivery was successful, with no accidents, surely she would get a great tip. Today was so going to be her day, or so she thought.
She carefully placed the empty vases in a basket attached to her bike. But just as she prepared to ride out, her phone buzzed in her pocket.
Lana pulled out her phone, her smile widening as she saw the call ID, it was her neighbor, Nicole, who usually watches over her three children while she goes to work in the morning.
Lana answered the call, optimistic that it was her kids just wanting to speak to her.
“Hello Nicole, of course you can give them the phone” Lana said, thinking she got the unasked question right but what came next stunned her.
“Lana there's fire on the mountain” Nicole said, her voice laced with urgency, that it sent chills down Lana's spine.
Lana's smile faded, replaced by a look of alarm.
“Why, what happened?" Lana doubted, her heart racing like a beating drum.
“Hans collapsed, and has been rushed to Saint Claire's Hospital” Nicole informed and Lana's expression changed from panicked to utter confusion.
“Why? What happened to my son, did he get into some kind of a fight?” Lana doubted once more but this time Nicole wasn't so patient to respond.
“Enough with the unnecessary questions, just hurry over” Nicole informed acrimoniously.
“On my way” Lana said, hanging up the call, her mind racing with worry.
She took in a deep breath, and with a determined look, put her phone away, and rode out.
Lana drove down the highway, her bike weaving through traffic as she rushed to
the hospital. Her mind clouded with fear as she maneuvered through narrow gaps, only for her bike to bump into a sleek, black 2024 model BMW.
Lana lost her balance and almost fell off her bike. She quickly regained control
and brought the bike to a stop.
Lana's heart raced as she stepped off the bike, staring at the gigantic scratch on the expensive vehicle before her.
Gosh! why does it have to be a rich person. Rich people were the worst, she was so going to pay for this.
The driver's side door of the BMW opened, and Leon, a suave and arrogant-looking man in his early 30s, stepped out. He was dressed in an expensive-looking black shirt, which exposed the better part of his tattooed chest.
His eyes were blazing red, underneath his scanty black locks which strayed over his perfectly symmetrical face.
He reeked of expensive perfume and alcohol from the crazy clubbing he had the night before.
Leon walked immediately to the damaged spot on his car, his eyes widening with modification.
“Sir, I'm so sorry. I assure you it was an accident” Lana apologized immediately, in a bit to curb his anger.
Leon's turned to her, taking her full view in. He let out a sigh, and relaxed his face but instead of proposing a solution as expected, what came out of his mouth next sent goosebumps all over Lana's skin.
“So how do you intend to pay? with your body, or would one of your sugar daddies credit me?” He said with a straight face and Lana froze.
“Excuse me!” She exclaimed in shock.
“You’re excused. I will make the decision simpler for you. I want five rounds with you and in exchange we can consider ourselves even” Leon stated, his lustful gaze eating Lana whole.
“I beg your pardon, I am not a prostitute” Lana explained but Leon just burst out laughing.
“Oh I get it, you don't want to do it for free, how about I reduce it to three rounds and give you $1000 as bonus” He saids in-between chuckles.
“Of all the cars I could hit, why this sex deprived jerk” Lana thought to herself, her stomach crawling with irritation.
“Mister I am not interested in whatever you have to offer. I am sorry that I bashed into your car” She apologized, her tone apologetic.
“Sorry, sorry wouldn't fix this. Do you know how much the repairs will cause me? Even if I sell you and your bike it still wouldn't cover it. If I were you, I would just open my legs wide and get this debt over with” He said, his voice venomous.
His words took Lana aback. How typical of rich people to down grade people just for being poor, like the value of a person is based solely on material thinks.
“I'm afraid that is off the table. Like I said it was an accident but I am willing to take full responsibility for it, but I don't have any money now, so I will get your phone number and call you later concerning the money I owe you and in under three months, I promise to pay you everything. I just need to rush to the hospital, my son has been hospitalized” Lana informed, her voice pleading as she held on to the last strand of patience she had left, but once more Leon seemed unbothered and that cost him immensely.
“Save in woman. You're going nowhere without paying me” Leon said, grabbing Lana's hand fiercely. His tone venomous as he spoke close to Lana, consequently giving her a first class trip to his alcohol laced breathe, “And for the records, I don't care if your worthless son lives or dies.”
Lana's eyes locked on Leon as he spoke, the hate on them was unrivaled. He was clearly unremorseful for the poison he just spilled.
Lana's blood boiled and just like an erupted volcano she spilled.
“You're not any position to demand any sort of payment from me. Need I remind you drinking and driving is a crime. Infact you should be arrested for attempted murder on my life” She said her face twisting with anger, as she pried her arm off his grip.
Leon's mouth fell open as he looked down at her, why exactly wasn't she scared.
“No, you should be arrested for polluting the environment with your rackety old bike” He said, emotionless and Lana interrupted in anger.
“You know what? You are an egotistic jerk who needs to learn a thing or two about manner,"
“Excuse you? You should be apologizing and begging, instead of acting so tough. One word from me and your life would be ruined” He said with absolute certainty and Lana's anger increased.
“Go ahead. You think you are God, you are just a man with little money. You don't get to ruin a life you can't create.” She added in anger “I don't have time for this. Use your supreme power to fix your car”
Leon was taken aback, never before had a woman disrespected him like this. They usually begged for his approval not the other way around.
Lana turned, walked towards her bike, and hopped on it.
“You dare not ride out of this place or else...” Leon threatened, as Lana turned her bike around.
“Or else nothing" She said, her tone defiant, as she started her bike.
Lana turned, gave Leon a disdainful look over her shoulder, and through gritting teeth said “By the way your breath stinks”
And with that Lana drove off, leaving Leon standing alone, fuming. But not with anger, with admiration, no woman has ever insulted him like that, it was about time he humbled her by touching that body she so proud of.
