CHAPTER ONE :The tomb

It was a dark night. Just outside the town, at Saint Moreen High School, a school that was being demolished in every corner, the lights of construction crews flickered as engineers and workers went about their tasks. Massive construction vehicles—graders, bulldozers, catapillas—were at work, putting all their force into tearing down every part of the school. The roar of machines filled the air, smoke from fuel spread around, while the trees surrounding the site cast shadowy shapes over ,

In the area where the hostels had once stood, they had already been demolished, leaving only the floors behind. The catapilla was tearing through the remaining floor with its bucket, lifting the pieces up and removing the debris. Suddenly, a section of the ground collapsed downward, as if there were a large void beneath the floor. The driver backed the catapilla away, then called over two nearby workers—Kenny and Thom—dressed in blue work clothes and gear.

The driver of the catapilla shouted in a commanding voice, “You two, check what’s down there before we start demolishing. Looks like there’s a room beneath.”

Kenny and Thom turned on their torches and approached. When they arrived, they found a room shrouded in darkness; they exchanged uneasy glances.

The driver said, “Go down and see if there’s anything of value before we dig it up.”

Kenny began descending carefully through the slope of earth leading downward, illuminating the space with his torch. He said to Thom in an investigative tone, “It seems true, the students must have seen some trading happening in their hostels while this school was operational We’ve dug everywhere, but only here, where the hostels were, there’s a room below.”

Thom replied with certainty, “I think it’s true. That’s probably why teaching stopped—maybe because of student complaints.”

Kenny added nervously, “I don’t know if the factory being built here will work properly, if the school itself failed.”

They continued holding on carefully until they reached the very bottom, each cautiously sweeping their torches along the walls of the room. The walls were painted plain white. Kenny illuminated one side while Thom lit the other.

Kenny’s torch beam caught a long corridor extending from the room, suggesting there might be another room further in. Above them, the driver’s voice of the catapilla could be heard.

“Anything down there? Still?” he called.

“Still, sir,” Thom replied, though it seemed there was another room ahead.

The driver said, “Another one?”

Kenny answered this time, taking over for Thom: “Sir, there’s a corridor—it looks like there’s a room inside.”

“Okay, take a look too,” the driver ordered. “Hurry up, there’s no time to waste.”

“Understood,” Kenny said.

Kenny led the way as Thom said, “So there’s another room down here.”

Kenny nodded slightly, realizing this corridor would lead there. They began moving slowly, cautiously, and with fear. Kenny slowed his pace, his face showing clear apprehension.

Thom noticed this and said, “I know you’re scared. Okay, let me go ahead of you.”

Kenny smiled and replied, “I have to be scared. Don’t you know why this school was demolished and now they’re building a factory?”

Thom responded calmly, “Still, don’t be afraid.”

Kenny said, with visible unease, “I have to be afraid. My mind won’t let me feel otherwise—it terrifies me.”

Finally, they reached the inner room.

When they entered the room, they found it painted entirely white. In the center of the floor lay a glass pane, covering part of the floor. The glass was square-shaped, and at each corner stood a small rod with a tiny flame, casting just enough light to keep the room mostly in darkness.

Kenny grew increasingly fearful as he moved closer, illuminating with his torch, while Thom advanced as well, unease settling over them both. They proceeded cautiously toward the glass, wondering what lay beneath it.

When they reached it, they were startled, staring in horror, their bodies tensed and ready to flee if anything happened. Beneath the glass lay a human skeleton, submerged in transparent red liquid that revealed every detail. Fear gripped them as they gazed at the skeleton, with the glass above and the strange liquid surrounding it.

Thom took out his phone to report what they had discovered.

Suddenly, their phones started flickering on and off, and their torches did the same. Thom and Kenny wanted to run, but a strange female voice echoed. It sounded like someone trapped under a heavy weight, yet still undeniably feminine, coming from an unknown source.

Kenny grabbed Thom, and Thom held onto Kenny in fear, their eyes darting around to find the source, but they saw nothing. Sweat poured down their faces. The voice said, trembling: “Don’t run and leave me here alone.”

Together, they asked in fear, “Who are you?”

The voice replied, “It doesn’t concern you.”

Thom and Kenny glanced at the corridor leading outside, hoping to escape. But the voice said, “You cannot run; I am still here.” Suddenly, the corridor filled with smoke, making it impossible to see anything.

Kenny asked nervously, “What do you want?”

The voice answered, “To get out of here safely, light the candles and then break the glass. Only then will I let you go.”

Thom, terrified, began quietly praying: “In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit…” But he was cut off by the same female voice, now speaking harshly: “Do not pray! Do not pray! Follow the instructions!”

Thom fell silent in fear. Kenny and Thom extinguished all four candles. As soon as they did, they heard a more beautiful voice sighing in relief: “mmh uuuuuu…” It sounded like someone being released from hanging. Extinguishing the candles seemed to partially free it.

Then the voice commanded: “Break the glass quickly!” Kenny smashed the glass with his construction tool, and red liquid flowed out. Kenny and Thom backed away, terrified, as they witnessed the skeleton rise.

The skeleton took shape, growing flesh into a stunningly beautiful young woman, completely naked, with short black hair and a face dripping with water. She said: “Thank you for releasing me. Woe to the land and sea for what you have witnessed here. I will return one night for you. No one has ever seen me and lived—except you.”

After speaking seriously, she vanished instantly. Kenny and Thom ran out of the room as fast as they could, hearts pounding with unimaginable fear.

To be continued.
