Chapter 1

Sunshine pov.

"Wakey, wakey, it's morning, my Sunshine!" My mom's cheerful voice accompanied her soft tapping on my shoulder. I groggily pulled the duvet over my face. "Hmmm, I want to sleep more, Mum."

She singsonged, "It's 8 am, darling. Remember, you have someone to impress." I sat up, now fully awake. "And whose fault is that, if I may ask?"

My mom's expression turned serious. "Darling, you'll be twenty-five in six months, and you'll need to take over your father's company. You wouldn't want to disgrace him, would you?" She scolded gently.

I argued, "But I have a degree in business, accounting, and marketing. Don't those count?"

My mom insisted, "Without work experience, how will you cope?" Her words struck a chord. After graduation, I'd focused on parties and enjoying my parents' indulgence. Maybe it was time to grow up.

"Okay, mum, I'm up," I said, throwing off the covers. "Enough of your lecture, let me go prepare. I have an interview in one hour." I stood up on the bed, did a little wiggle, and hopped off.

My mom chuckled, shaking her head. "Sunshine, you're something else. Go get 'em, kiddo!"

With newfound determination, I headed to the bathroom, turning on the faucet and letting the warm water wash away my sleepiness. As I began my morning routine, I blasted APT by Rosie and Bruno Mars, letting the upbeat melody energize me.

Dancing into the bathroom, I took my time, enjoying the warm water and soothing music. After a refreshing 10-minute bath, I sat in front of my rear mirror for my skin routine. Feeling revitalized, I walked into my pink walk-in closet to pick out an outfit.

........

Sunshine walked into the lobby, looking vibrant in her pink top, black skirt, and matching black bag. Her pink heels clicked on the floor as she approached the receptionist's desk. Victoria, the receptionist, looked up from her screen, her expression unimpressed.

"Hi there! I'm Sunshine, here for an interview with... um... Mr. Damian," Sunshine said, her bright smile faltering slightly under Victoria's stern gaze.

Victoria handed her a clipboard with a form. "Fill out the form," she said curtly.about this opportunity."

As Sunshine filled out the form, Victoria's gaze lingered on her outfit, her expression a mixture of disdain and curiosity. "You're... quite... colorful, aren't you?" Victoria said, her tone laced with sarcasm

Sunshine finished filling out the form and handed it back to Victoria, her pink heels clicking on the floor as she stood up. "Thanks for the chat, Victoria! You're absolutely right, I am colorful – and I'm not just talking about my outfit."

Victoria raised an eyebrow, taken aback by Sunshine's quick wit. Sunshine flashed a bright smile and flipped her hair over her shoulder, her diamond-studded clutch bag glinting in the light.

"I'm sure Mr. Damian will love my... unique style," Sunshine said, her voice dripping with confidence. "After all, who wouldn't want to hire someone who brings a little sunshine to the office?"

Victoria's expression turned even more skeptical, but Sunshine just winked at her and sashayed over to the waiting area, her pink heels clicking away.

Just before Sunshine's interview, Damian called in the previous candidate, a nervous-looking young woman named Emily. Damian's demeanor was gruff, and Emily seemed intimidated from the start.

"So, Emily, tell me why you're here," Damian said, his tone dismissive.

Emily stumbled over her words, trying to showcase her skills. Damian cut her off mid-sentence, his expression unimpressed.

"That's not what I'm looking for. Can you actually do the job, or are you just here to waste my time?"

Emily's eyes welled up with tears as Damian's words cut deep. "I-I thought I could... I'm sorry..."

Damian's expression didn't soften. "Sorry isn't going to cut it here. You're not qualified for this position. Next!"

Emily stood up, tears streaming down her face, and quickly exited the room

Sunshine watched Emily exit the room, tears streaming down her face, and simply shrugged. She didn't seem fazed by Damian's harsh demeanor.

When Damian called her name, Sunshine stood up, smoothed her pink top, and walked into the interview room with confidence.

"Hi, Mr. Damian," she said brightly. "I'm Sunshine. It's nice to meet you."

Damian looked d from his notes, his expression still stern from the previous interview. "Take a seat, Sunshine.
