Chapter 1
I woke up today realizing it was the first day of my senior year. That would have felt better if I didn’t have a nightmare. I had a dream that I was running through the castle invisible to assassinate the current king. I kept running until I wandered into his room. All I could see is a hooded figure; I couldn’t see his face. I got behind him, took out my dagger and right before I stabbed him, he moved it into my stomach. I turned visible, as someone came in behind him. “I told you she would be here.” a female voice said. She was getting closer. As she got closer I saw her brown hair, and then next I saw her golden eyes; It was Melanie. She pushed me out of the window, and I fell to the ground. I woke up on the floor.
I have been having dreams similar to this for a while now ever since I found out about the upcoming battle. They kept getting more and more detailed as I learned and got my memory back the last 2 years. I think they got worse after I left my Aunt Madison in Nevada. I think that was because I finally knew everything and exactly what I was going to have to do.
I just laid on the floor until my alarm went off. Then I slowly got up to get ready for school. Half out of it, I walked into the bathroom and took a shower. When I got out I pointed my finger at myself in the mirror and magically put on my clothes and dried my hair. I had put on a white tank top with a black dress shirt with the sleeves at three-quarter length, and blue jeans. I slowly put my long blonde hair up into a ponytail. I then slowly put silver eyeshadow, black eyeliner and mascara on. As much as I dreaded the first day of school, I still wanted to look just right.
When I was finished, I slowly walked out and ran into Jason. Literally, right in his chest. “Sorry.” I said as I looked up at him. I just noticed his brown hair was getting shaggier. I then once again got caught in his blue eyes.
“Come on Jay. We need to get to school.” I saw he was ready to go.
I then looked down the hall to see my cousin, Nikki, ready to go. She had a short plaid skirt on with a white dress shirt on, and of course plaid knee high socks. She looked like a little preppy school girl. She shifted her white hair, black. “Sorry guys, I’m running behind.” I looked at Jason and then down at my feet. I was barefoot, so I pointed and magically put on my black boots. “Let’s get going.” We walked down the stairs and I grabbed my bag.
Right then Harrison, Jason’s dad, stopped us. I noticed he has been gaining more gray hairs in his brown hair; I have put him under a lot of stress these past 2 years. “No hugs before you leave?” his blue eyes full of excitement. I think that was because we are growing closer and closer to the battle to end it all. Maybe that is where the gray hairs are coming from. We all hugged him quickly.
“We have to go before we are late.” Jason said.
“We will be home right after school.” I said. We quickly ran to the garage and left for school in Jason’s silver Dodge Challenger.
Once we got there we met up with Alex in the band hall. I think Nikki had a crush on Alex. She always acted so giddy around him. I know he can be a sweet guy at times and he is cute with his black hair and brown eyes, but deep down he is just a twisted vampire. I hugged Alex when the bell rang. Alex, Jason and I, all have the same classes. I figured out Alex has been hacking into the school computers to get in the same classes. I guess he did the same for Jason this year. Nikki wasn’t in the same class as us because she is younger and is a junior, but we all had band together right before lunch. I hugged Nikki right before we separated from her. “See you, in band Snowflake.” After that Jason, Alex and I walked off to our first class.
