DREAMS

He smiles at me as he leans in close and I feel his lips on mine. Very softly he whispers, “Don’t be nervous.” I can smell his cologne. He opens his mouth, putting his tongue on mine. His hand moves to my cheek, caressing it. His touch becomes stronger as it moves to my shoulder, down my arm and finally to my waist, as he pulls me closer. His stubbled beard rubs against my face.

He quickly lets go and turns to remove his jacket. Then sits down on the bed removing his shoes. “Come here,” he says confidently.

I do as he asks and stand before him. He slowly unzips my jeans, letting them fall to the ground. I can feel his tongue on my belly as he slides down my underwear. He stands up to lift my blouse over my head, his lips go to my neck. I feel like my heart is going to pop out of my chest, it is pounding so hard. I stare into his dark brown eyes. I see him grin at me with his cocky smile. He is so handsome. He whispers, “Is this what you were thinking?”

I giggle, slightly nervous. I am anxious to feel him inside of me but I am glad we are taking our time. “This is exactly what I was thinking.” I reach to lift his shirt above his head. Slowly, I feel his broad chest and defined arms. He is at least a foot taller than me, I have to raise up on my tippy toes to reach his mouth. As we kiss, I reach down to undo his slacks. I can feel his bulge already as I brush my hand against him slightly, removing both his pants and boxers at the same time. He removes my bra easily and then grasps my butt cheeks with both of his hands pulling me close to him as he devours my mouth.

“Ring! Ring!” My cell phone interrupts us. I pull back quickly. “I have to check, it could be something with my son. I’m sorry!” I grab the bedspread, covering myself as I search through my purse. Quickly, I answer, “Hey Mom, is everything ok?”

“I am sorry to bother you on your night out but Conrad has a fever. I gave him some Tylenol about an hour ago but it’s not going down.”

“Oh no, ok, I am going to head back now.” I quickly hang up and turn to see him lying naked on the bed. I grab for my clothes on the floor. “I am so sorry, I have to go,” I tell him.

He jumps up quickly, “Is everything ok?”

“It’s my son, he has a fever…”

He interrupts, “Can it not wait, just a bit longer?” He reaches for my hand and brings it to his mouth, kissing it.

“No.” I say sternly. “I understand you don’t know me well enough to realize that my son comes first, before anything, and right now he needs his Mom!”

“Maybe…”

I cut him off, reality is setting in. “I don’t know what I was thinking tonight, this is a mistake.” I blurt out as I try to quickly dress.

He grabs for his clothes as well. “Its not a mistake, it just needs to be rescheduled.”

“I can’t.” I hesitate as I look into his dark eyes. He is definitely charming. It’s that grin of his! That’s how I ended up here in the first place! “Sorry.” I quickly left with no other explanation or plans for another time.

I call Mom back once in the car. “How’s he doing?”

“He’s ok. I just knew if you came home later and he was sick you would be so mad at me if I didn’t tell you right away!”

“Yes, for sure! Will you look and see if there’s any Gatorade in the pantry.”

“There is. Now tell me how was your night out?”

“It was good, Brittney and I had a lot of catching up to do. We just went to the Brewery and played a few games of cornhole.”

“Huh huh…and were there any good looking men there?”

“No Mother,” I say sarcastically.

“Well, next weekend you can go out again and maybe Mr. Right will be waiting for you,” she laughs.

I exhale loudly, annoyed with her. “I am not looking for anyone right now Mom.”

I pull into my apartment parking garage, quickly walking to the front entrance and up the stairs. As the condo door opens I hear, “Mommy!”

“Hi baby!” I reach for his forehead, “You are still warm, let’s go take your temperature again.” I pick him up and kiss his cheek. “Thanks Mom, I will let you know how he is doing!” I shout as Conrad and I head upstairs.

I get into my pajamas, wash up and quickly and return to Conrad’s room. “Move over, Mommy will sleep with you tonight.” I say, carrying my pillow. I stroke his forehead gently and hum to him until he falls asleep. My little baby boy, so precious.

I must have dosed off quickly, I was startled to hear my cell phone ringing. I look to see it is Brittney. “Hey.”

“I can’t wait to hear the details, tell me now!” she commands.

I glance over to see Conrad still sleeping. I quietly head downstairs to the living room. “I am a bit surprised at myself. I can hardly believe things went so far. You know I have never had a one night stand.”

“You deserve to have fun, Lizzy. So, tell me, how fun was he!”

“It all happened so fast before I knew it…”

She interrupts, “Oh no!” and laughs.

“No Brittney, HE wasn’t fast. I meant the moment seemed to happen so fast. “You would have been proud of me, really, I was assertive and flirty.”

“Didn’t it feel great to finally have sex again!” she giggles.

“Sort of.” I explain the situation, with all the details. There are no secrets between us.

“How could you not make another date?” she scolds.

“It wasn’t exactly a date to begin with Brittney. I think I panicked.”

“We need to set you up on a dating app.”

“No!”

“Girls do it all the time. There’s no judgement. We are grown adults.”

“I know, it’s just not for me. This guy was different, he took me by surprise. I don’t know exactly what it was about him. He challenged me, kind of taunted me to have sex with him. Just the way he glared at me, it sent chivers through my body! He was incredibly assertive and just SEXY!”

“Well now that you got a glimpse of what you have been missing out on, we will have to make sure you get another try at it again soon.”

“Oook I will try again.” I agree.

I sit for a long time thinking to myself. I guess I would like to date again, under the right circumstances. I have to admit being with him has definitely awakened desires in me that I have long forgotten about.
