Charlie has never been the favorite. Since childhood, her sister Joy has eclipsed everything, including her. Joy, the miracle survivor, the child star of a cancer survivor. Charlie, however, is the one who stays. Who helps, who pays, who fades into the background. Fifteen years after the diagnosis, during yet another family celebration disguised as a hall of fame in Joy's honor, Charlie receives another slap in the face: her sister is pregnant, and the whole family naturally expects her to put her hands in her pockets. Again. But this time, something breaks. Between enforced silences, chronic guilt, and a tyrannical mother who dresses up in the finery of love, Charlie will slowly understand that surviving is not living. Supported by Viviane, a fiercely loyal friend, and troubled by James, an unexpected colleague, Charlie will have to make a choice: fade away permanently, or dare to exist for real.
