The Cake On The Doorstep
The Cake On The Doorstep
It was midnight when I heard the screams from my brother. There is something haunting this town. I’ve heard strange things, but I didn’t know what was causing it. I ran outside, but didn’t see anything, though I knew something was wrong. The next day, I didn’t see him, I asked the neighbors if they had seen him. None of them have. I called and texted, but he didn’t answer. I asked my mom if he had been at her house, but she hadn’t seen him either.
I was starting to get worried. I remember hearing him scream, and it sounded like it came from the woods. It would probably be a good place to start. I saw tracks unlike any I’ve seen before. They were small, round, and deep into the ground. I was about to turn back, then I saw a puddle of blood. I knew I had to go deeper, so I kept walking. It started to get dark, so I headed home. The next day, I went outside and found a red velvet cake with a note attached.
The note said, “Heard what happened to your brother. Hope you find him.” I thought it was a nice gesture. I brought it inside, and the cake tasted a little different. But I think they just used a lot of red food coloring. It was coming out super fast. But other than that, it was pretty good. I went back outside, and saw what looked like a black demon tail. It wasn’t the best idea, but I needed answers, so I started following it. I couldn’t see much of it at first; I could only see the tail. But soon, I saw it.
It was black and red. It was tall with sharp claws, thick ears, and a grin bigger than my friend’s mother-in-law. I know it knew where my brother was, but I couldn’t just confront it. With how tall it was, I had to be smart. I needed some help too. I waited for it to go home, then looked for help. I ran home as fast as I could. The old lady across the street asked if I was okay, but I was too out of breath to answer. Then, she invited me inside and I told her what happened. She seemed surprised and a little scared. But I don’t blame her. “Have you gotten the red velvet cake yet?” She asked. “Yes…” I said with slight fear. “Oh, then I’m afraid you’re brother is no more than just a cake.” I started shaking slightly, then fell to my knees and started crying.
