Chapter 1
[Boyfriend’s POV]
Every time she smiles at me — my girlfriend — I feel the weight of what I’ve done crush me harder. Her laughter is warm, trusting, innocent. And then I feel the ghost of her best friend’s lips on mine, the one I swore I’d never touch.
I didn’t mean for it to happen. It was late, I was upset, she was there. She listened when my girlfriend brushed me off. She held my hand when I didn’t deserve it. And when she kissed me, I didn’t stop her.
Now every moment with my girlfriend feels like a lie. Every “I love you” is split in two — half for the girl who trusts me, half for the one who shouldn’t.
But I can’t stop.
Because when I sneak out to meet her best friend, I feel alive. And when she looks at me with those guilty, desperate eyes, I know she feels it too.
