Power Of Surge
"Hi! Before starting this review, I'd first like to thank the author for writing this book! The book was a great and fun read, with exciting and tense moments! 🤩 The book wasn't just a fun read, but it was an exciting read! Right off the start, you start with Flare, who is a Fire Surge! She was living in a poor position and didn't have any way to make money and get a home of her own. Her situation was quite sad. She had no family, no friends, she was simply alone. But after a mishap, she was forced to relocate to a different area. Unaware, Focus was now on her tail! And when they first met up, their fight started with a bang! 💥 Before I get into the battles, I have to say that I found the humour outstanding and the adventure Focus and Flare had was quite fun! Focus refusing to let Flare drive is the running joke of the book, and I quite enjoyed seeing them trying to ridiculously enter a casino! 🤣 The fights are incredible in this book, but the most intense one had to be Stone going against Jax and Proxy! Stone was just incredibly powerful against them, they had no chance against him! The twist about him having no Surge was shocking! I never expected someone such as Stone to be this powerful while he's not a Surge user! And to top it all, we still have a lot to see from Stone! 😆 Him losing control after Infinity manipulated him was a crazy final battle! Red Flare form was amazing, though I'm still eager to see or understand why she unlocked that form at that moment. I'm not going to call it plot or anything at the moment, because I still have a few books that could explain. 👀 Putting it aside, Red Flare talked more than fought! When Stone was out of control, she kept yapping and trash-talking to someone who was being silent the entire time! She's crazy, but she was just talking to herself at that point! 🤣 But that's still a sick form! Red Flare means she becomes out of control, and she could hurt anyone around her! And knowing that Red Flare was just at the end of the first book, who knows how she'll be in the sequels! 😯 I liked the characters a lot! Pulse, Proxy, Mistrick, and Stone are my favourites! Mistrick for being lazy and a diva! I mean, a battle is happening and here you are polishing your nails?! What on Earth?! 😭 And then we have Pulse! She may not be a combat Surge user, but she is smart! I enjoyed her calm yet serious aura surrounding her caught me! Proxy is a twelve-year-old who is quite powerful! She helped Jax fight Stone and won after beating Stone together with Jax! She still survived, which earned her a lot of points! And Stone because of his mysterious past and aura he holds! Despite being beaten, he managed to become the final character to beat! 🤩 The villains are unique. I haven't seen much of Infinity yet, but it's most likely we will see his full potential in the sequels of which I'm eager to read! 👀 There is something that needs to be improved though, and it's the expressions the characters give when battling. In the final few chapters, I noticed the characters constantly gritted their teeth every time they got hurt, flung, leapt, or thought. It seemed they gritted their teeth the entire time for each battle. Just a bit of advice, try switching it up by letting them shout, scoff, exhale, grumble, etc. We would get more expressions from the characters when they're battling! 👀 Other than that, incredible work for this book! I enjoyed the read, and I'm excited to read the sequels! Well done! 🤩✨💫🔥"
Amazing Book Anime
"Power Surge is a great anime script that I would add to my Crunchyroll list. It definitely leaves you with millions of questions, as an anime does, because you are meant to read the other seasons. I read the story in full because it was that good. This story is funny, and full of action. I found myself laughing out loud while reading many time. I really like the writing style and enjoy how different it is as a book. There’s so much detail that it’s easy to visualize exactly what you’re looking at. There are few grammatical errors but they don’t deter from the great read. "
Amazing
"First of all this book is amazing! A lot of characters but each is unique in its own way. 🤌🏻Also the fight scenes have been described so vividly which makes it worth reading. I loved the transition from Flare to Red Flare. Also I can’t wait to see Flare and Focus together in loveee 🥰 Overall, this book is a must read for all who love action, adventure packed with humour Great work!"
Wow!
"Abdo is a very talented author, and I truly admire his writing. He creates characters that stay with you long after you finish reading. I was watching a animation Luck and the black cat reminds me of Focus. Everything felt so vivid and realistic in my mind. I could clearly imagine Focus and Flare in action, especially during the casino scene. That moment played out like a movie in my head. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Even if you’re not usually a fan of action stories, Power Surge might just change your mind."
Power Surge
"Well, what can I say about Flare’s journey in this action packed story? I’m glad she found her Focus! I know, it’s not a romance! 😂 I love the deadpan sense of humour in this story. The snark, the sarcasm, it’s light hearted and smile/smirk inducing. You don’t even realise you’re doing it till you wonder why your cheeks hurt so much. 😁 The author takes us on an energy fuelled journey. The first chapter is a hefty one, feeding us lots of moving parts and action but filled with plenty of intrigue and humour of course. Once you read that then there’s no stopping you from devouring this story as fast as you can. The fast paced action has you reading to keep up with the authors vision. The vivid scene descriptions make little movies play out in your mind. 🎞️ It’s an enjoyable, fun, action packed story. A refreshing take on superhero adventures with plenty of characters to related to. This is the first in a series so although has a resolution for now, it leaves the story open, tantalising us ready for the next book. Overall a smooth read. 😎"
POWER SURGE
"One of the most distinctive features of this work is its script-like format, in which the story unfolds mainly through the characters’ dialogue. I’ve never come across a novel that progresses in this way before, and I found it to be a very fresh and brilliant idea. The story is a whirlwind of battle-driven action, involving individuals with unique abilities and a mysterious organization. As I read, it felt just like watching an action movie. The main duo, Flare and Focus, also make a fantastic team and add a lot of charm to the story. That said, because there are many characters, there were moments when I found myself wondering which side a particular character was on. Still, for anyone who enjoys action, this is a work I can wholeheartedly recommend. Experience this overwhelming rush of battle action with your own eyes! It’s truly a wonderful piece of work. "
Power Surge
"I can already tell from only reading the first chapter (my bad 😔) that Flare needs better control of her powers. Maybe Focus will help her, or he might leave her to burn, or both. I'm still pissed off that she tickled him instead of setting him on fire 😭. I'll read more of it soon, I can't be lacking on my Abdo stories. And remember, chest plates forever, breasts feel nice together 😔✊🏾"
She's got Flare!💥
"An innocent, red-headed six-year-old girl wakes up to discover she has nightmare powers. Anything she wills can burst into flames within seconds. Flare, (for that is her name) uses these powers to escape a government facility. Ten years later she has learned how to survive on the streets, and blend in with the crowd. On the surface she appears to be an ordinary witty teen. But to those who accidentally ignite her wrath ...they suffer the burning consequences. Unfortunately for Flare, an organization known as Aegis is actively hunting her down. "Flare is a Surge Beacon and must be caught at all costs!" Commander Cromwell explains. He sends their best agent, a young teen named Focus to hunt her down. Unlike Flare, his surge powers are completely under his control. Then there are 'The Sparks', bubbly, charismatic and full of their own sparkly personality, they agree to use their own Surge Powers to bring Flare down. So now it's a question of who will capture Flare first. And will they be able to control the uncontainable surge within her, when they do? As far as I'm concerned this is the best screenplay Abdo has yet written so far and is my personal favorite. I enjoy Flare's feisty personality and Focus's deadpan delivery. The humor comes on in Abdo's signature style of quick one liners and 'smirky' comebacks. A lot of fun if you enjoy anime with a strong, superhero vibe. "
Writing skills
"I really enjoyed your story it had such a strong atmosphere and left a lasting impression on me; what inspired you to explore this theme in your writing? "
Like A Comic!
"While this isn’t my usual genre, Abdo’s writing style is very fun and inviting. The author has built a world of charcters that are fun, super powered , and adventurous. Each reveal of a character and his/her poweres brought a new excitement for the reader. Many time this story reminded me of Anime in the banter between the characters and the fighting style. The authors choice to write the story like a script added to the overall world. What I liked most about this story was that it was very attached to the plot and never steered off course. I recommend to anyone who enjoys light hearted adventure, anime- style banter, and super- powered fun."
A Story with Super Energy! 🔥⚡
"Think you’ve seen it all when it comes to stories about superhuman powers? Think again! In a world that reminds me a bit of the X-Men, we meet Focus and Flare, and a number of other superhuman Surge Users who find themselves in the midst of an evil plot. Without giving all the good stuff away (because YOU need to read it yourself), it’s an action-packed, humorous ride that makes it hard to stop reading. Styled in anime screenplay format, hang on for a very visual ride. I read this story in accordance with the judging criteria for the Green Exchange Awards 2026, so I read only the first 10 episodes and the last two. But I will definitely be going back to fill in the gaps I missed. I truly enjoy Abdo’s writing style. The plot and characters are well developed and full of depth. At this point, the story is well on its way to becoming a trilogy, and while this particular story finds closure, it most definitely sets the reader up for an exciting continuation. Overall grammar and technical skills were well done. There are several lengthy run-on sentences, but very few errors otherwise. Despite all the action, it’s an easy read and very visual! I highly recommend!"
Review
"One of the best works but not my favourite yet. Not because I was too obsessed with the previous series but because I am not really a fan of this genre. But I have to read it, I know that. I have to see how everything works out. It’s engaging, funny and full of action. The best transition is of Flare to red Flare. It gives me chills. I love Focus&Flare’s duo now. They are cool after all but I don’t like them more than Mistrick (Queen of my heart) The story is engaging and I highly recommend it. Can’t wait to read more. I have a few suggestions though. You can made the idea of the story or the plot more clear. Also, I am not really enjoying humour to that extent these days. I don’t know if the problem is me or the dialogues are lacking that charm but I know you will fix it as the story progresses. These are some suggestions. Otherwise I think everything is perfect except Infinity. "
