The Secret Door

It all began on a rainy afternoon in the quiet little town of Mirwood. The sky hung low with heavy gray clouds, and the streets were nearly empty, save for a few people rushing home with umbrellas in hand. In a small, creaky house at the end of Willow Lane, fourteen-year-old Daniel sat by the window, tapping his fingers restlessly against the wooden frame.

Daniel was a boy with an unusual curiosity—always asking questions, always searching for something more than what the world offered him. While other kids were content with football games or watching cartoons, Daniel’s mind often wandered into the unknown. He collected old maps, strange books, and broken trinkets from the attic of his late grandfather. His mother often scolded him for being lost in daydreams, but Daniel couldn’t help it. He felt as though the world was hiding something—something big—just beyond what most people could see.

That day, as the rain pattered against the glass, Daniel decided to explore the attic once more. The house had belonged to his grandfather, a man shrouded in mystery, who had traveled the world and filled every corner with relics, journals, and oddities from faraway lands.

He pressed his palm against the wall. Hollow. His heart skipped. With trembling fingers, he pushed harder, and to his astonishment, the wooden panel shifted. Slowly, quietly, it swung open like a hidden door.

Behind it was a narrow passage, shrouded in darkness.

Daniel’s breath caught in his throat. His curiosity screamed louder than his fear. He grabbed a flashlight from a nearby box and stepped inside. The passage was small, forcing him to hunch. The air smelled faintly of earth and old stone. At the end, he found another door—this one made of iron, with strange markings etched into its surface.

The markings looked almost like a map, with lines, stars, and unfamiliar symbols. In the center was a keyhole, but no key.

Daniel leaned closer. The symbols seemed to glow faintly, pulsing like a heartbeat. His hand brushed the surface, and suddenly, the markings flared to life. The door groaned and slowly creaked open.

Beyond it was not another dusty room of the attic.

It was… a forest.

Daniel blinked in disbelief. Where the attic should have been, there now stretched a vast woodland bathed in golden light. Birds with feathers like jewels darted through the trees. Strange flowers glowed faintly at the
