chapter 1: The call
It was a beautiful night my phone rang. I picked it up
"Hello aria advita here" i took a sip from my coffee and a familiar voice replied "hello aria it's me kris havens. Where in the world are you?"
"In my flat,kris. In omsk".
" ah, i see. You mentioned that you have completed your wild life veterinary course, right?". I let out a quite sigh "yeah."
"That's great. I'd like you to join me." I paused,confused "join you for what?"
"Exploring bat caves and forest. Learning about zoonotic diseases. You know bats are reservoirs of many viruses".
A wave of excitement washed over me. "really?. I'd love to join you! But...where?"
"In the forest's of omsk" his tone is sharper now. I've joined a team here. They have a research center near the forest - you'll love it and i'll mention about you to my professor. Bye for now i'll come pick you up tomorrow morning" and he hung up.
We were friends from past seven years he was used to be my senior and here we are besties forever. I finished my coffee, already buzzing with anticipation,and began packing . tomorrow was going to be an exciting day. I carefully cleaned my katana and placed it gently into it's case.
Just as i zipped up my bag,my phone rang. I Answerd.
"Hello Ms.Advita this is professor leonid orlov. I believe kris mentioned about our research project to you. Would you be interested in joining us? It will be a valuble experience."
I took a deep breath. "Absolutely sir. I'd love to join it'll be my first step toward becoming a wildlife vet."
His tone was calm and reassuring "that's excellent.we'll be stationed here for a few weeks. You can join us tomorrow. Thank you for being a part of this."
"It's my pleasure,sir".
He hung up
The night passed quickly. Kris arrived the next morning to pick me up.after several hours of travel, we finally reached the research center tucked away near the edge of the forest.
A shiver ran down my spine as we stepped inside
