Chapter 1

"What do you think?" A voice rang through my head, snapping me out of my trance. Ahead of me, a woman was twirling her floral dress, showing off the intricate embroidery around her sleeves. The blue color makes her features pop out even more than usual.

I gave her a small smile. "It looks great on you." My answer tugged her lips upward. "You think so?" She turned around, observing herself in the closet's mirror. I nodded. "Yeah. I think the lace around your..." My hand hovered around my chest. "...Looks nice." She turned toward me, chuckling. "You can just say breast, Jayden. Nobody is going to be mad at you," she said, examining several accessories on her hand.

"I know...but it's kinda awkward," I answered honestly. The woman in front of me didn't pay much attention to my answer. She was comparing accessories on her hand. For a moment, I thought she didn't hear it, which would have saved me from this awkwardness. "How is it awkward? We've been friends for a long time, Jayden. I've known everything about you."

"Yeah..." She wasn't wrong, but she wasn't right either. God, how long can I handle being here? "Soph, I-" She turned around, holding two similar necklaces and putting them around her neckline. "Which one do you think looks better?" I was unable to answer her. Her glowy face stopped me in my tracks. Her glossy eyes enticed me. It felt like I turned ten years old and saw her for the first time all over again.

"Jayden?" Her expectant face pulled me back. Since I don't want to make her wait, I decide to deflect. "Soph, whatever jewelry you decide to wear tomorrow, I'm sure your boyfriend would like it." She let out a sigh, placing the necklaces back on the vanity table. "You men are all the same. Cannot really make a decision, huh?"

"Hey!" I said softly. "Both looked really great, alright, and please don't go there. I'm not having a debate with you right now."

Sophia shook her head slightly. "Alright. Alright. I won't. You can go now, my humble servant." I clicked my tongue, annoyed. She laughed harder after seeing my reaction. Before long, she ushered me out of her room. Her excuse was that she needed beauty sleep. She believed her boyfriend was going to propose to her tomorrow. With that, I walked back to my room, which was on the second level of the main house.

The one I just talked to was my childhood best friend, Sophia Malinda. An omega and the future Luna of the pack. For the longest time, I thought we were meant to be, but now, years have passed, and the thought slowly dissolved, even though a part of me still holds onto that hope. But what could a beta like me do? We were never meant to be together in the first place.

"Jayden." That voice. That sultry voice has been plaguing me these past few days. Every night when I closed my eyes, I would spawn in a huge, comfy bed, and that woman would slither her way next to me. She would caress my face while whispering sweet nothings until I fell asleep in her arms. Today is no different.

I was back in the same white, floral room with a queen-sized bed situated in the middle. In all of my dreams, I could never move my body like I was nailed to the bed. The woman, whose face I could never catch a glimpse of, appeared next to me with her red sleeping robe.

"I couldn't wait to meet you, Jay. When we meet, I'll make sure to shower you with so much love that you beg me to stop. You can't be with anyone else. You can't." Then, she placed a small peck on my forehead before she continued. For the rest of the night, her mouth keeps saying compliments. Some of them were nice, but the others were so bizarre that I wanted to hide my face. Not to mention, she also constantly tousled my hair and put her arms around my body. Thank goodness I couldn't blush in my dream, or else she would have noticed how embarrassed I am with her action.

Slowly, the scenery dissipated like a gust of wind, and her touch left my body. When I open my eyes again, the surroundings return to the one I know—my room. I didn't wake up immediately. For some reason, a part of me wanted to savor the touches. That's the only thing for which I don't understand the reason.

Before I could ponder longer, my wolf, JJ, was already barking in my head. If I didn't have anything important today, I would go back to sleep so I could drown out JJ's voice. I let out a small groan from the pounding and get ready for the day.

During the period of time I was getting ready to go on my routine morning run, JJ was all over my head, saying that he hates the she-wolf that has been visiting him lately. "She wants me to submit! Why would I submit to her?! I don't like it and I certainly don't like her," he whined with a huff. I rolled my eyes as my steps came to a halt. Looking around the forest, I need to remind the others to cut overgrown bushes around the path back to the pack area.

"Are you listening to me?! This is a big problem. Another wolf is invading my space without being next to us. How the hell did she do that?" Of course. There is another problem up in my head. "Yes, yes. I heard ya. She was right to make you submit. You already act like a bottom." I add with a low voice. "What did you say?!" JJ yelled. I winced at his high-pitched shriek.

While JJ was jumping up and down, cursing at me with every curse that he learned in his lifetime, I was making my way back to the main house. Once I reached the front door, the door swung open. The person radiated a strong, dominant aura, which could only mean one person. My best friend and the Alpha of our pack, Grayson Blake.

"Lee!" He walked up to me with hastened steps. His face seems ashen, and he is more out of breath than I am (since I just finished my run). He gripped my shoulder like his life depended on it. "I need your help. Do you remember the shirt I was supposed to wear tonight? The one we bought at the Bluemoon Pack?"

"Yes?" I narrowed my eyes at him. "What did you do?" I asked him while JJ was cackling, telling me that his Alpha, Alistair, was panicking from shrinking the nice shirt he was supposed to wear. "You shrank the shirt? On the day you're about to propose?" Grayson gave me a pained smile. "Did JJ tell you that?"

"I think you know the answer to that question." He let out a sigh, rubbing his temple. "This wasn't supposed to happen. It's Alistair's fault. The one time I gave him the right to take over my body, he decided to put the shirt into the wrong setting."

"Are we sure that you're not blaming your wolf for your wrongdoings?" Hearing my question, Grayson put his hand on his nape, avoiding eye contact with me. A habit I had picked up after befriending him in high school. I rolled my eyes at him. Since he has a lot to prepare for his proposal, I relented. "Fine. I'll get you a new shirt." His eyes lit up.

"Really?" I nodded. "I'm your beta, after all. This is the least I could do."

"Oh my god, thank you, Lee! This proposal wouldn't work without your sacrifices!"

"Sacrifice is a strong word." Grayson didn't stay along. He patted my shoulder before striding away to give instructions to other wolves. Well, there goes my plan to take a break before getting ready in the evening.

With that, I walked into the main house to change my outfit before going to the Bluemoon Pack. Lucky for me, those two were out of town for their second honeymoon right now. At the very least, I won't be bumping into them.
