An introspective slow-burn
"I'm late to the party, having started on day one this without reading its immediate prequel, but I am loving every minute of it so far! Even without the full context, I'm completely immersed and on the edge of my seat. The chapters are polished, the writing flows well, and the author's introspective style is in full swing here, as it weaves in and out of the characters' inner turmoil and the murder conspiracy they're embroiled in. This makes for a slow-burn that moves at a comfortable pace, revealing clues and delving deep into character relationships. Annie has come into her own as a successful barrister, while Luke is struggling with regaining his confidence after years behind bars. Their will-they-won't-they is just as tantalising as the murders they have to solve. Looking forward to how it'll all come together...or apart...time will tell ;) Either way, I will be here!"
