Chapter 1

It’s hard to imagine another year has gone by.There is a sea of memories in my mind. Some as vivid as a motion picture full of sounds and smells and lines I can recall like a favorite song.Others fade like a painting of water colors, blurred splotches that are reminiscent of something familiar, like smoke from a cigar that lingers in the air.

Some days in real time I wonder, is this going to be a cherished memory or will this moment be relegated in my thoughts as a scene not quite in focus.

If time is a river, then remembering is like the wind, a whisp or a wail that can’t be caught. But the turn of the page cannot erase the pillars that are the man that is my Father. The scent of his cologne, the sound of his laugh, the embrace of his arms in a loving hug. Some memories are as bold as the person and stronger than the current.
