Summary

Yuki Ayuzawa needs to get into the major leagues. Maya Robbins needs to prove that she's more than just the daughter of a popular recruiter. When they both find out that they're doing physical therapy at the same clinic, sunshine Maya and grumpy Yuki form an agreement - she'll help him with physical therapy if he'll help her coach her junior league to the finals. For Yuki, it's an opportunity to finally be seen by Maya's father and get on the team of his dreams. But as they spend more time together, Yuki and Maya's walls begin to fall, revealing unspoken vulnerabilities that make them question the professional parameters of their relationship. But as Maya's fibromyalgia becomes more complex and the pressure from his mother starts to ebb on Yuki, can they manage a relationship built on complex emotions? Or will their victory lead to a divide?

Author's Note

Hello everyone!

Shreya here :) It's been a while from the time that I'm writing this (Sept. 28, 2025). College has started for me so I'm all over the place, but I think I've found a happy medium now where I can focus on writing and on my work! Because of that, I've decided to publish my most recent work, RECOVERY PLAY, which, as of today, is still in progress, for you all to read!

Please keep in mind when reading that this is a first draft. Things will no doubt change, but I want to share this story with you anyway so far and go through it's development together! In the future, some scenes may be cut, shortened, etc. However, I hope that you enjoy what I have so far, and please feel free to comment on anything you like/love/feel like should be changed :) I'm happy to take constructive criticism.

One more important note: my FMC, Maya, has fibromyalgia, a chronic illness that I feel is underrepresented and needs more attention for women to be properly and safely diagnosed. As a disabled individual, I want to write about disability in fiction so that everyone is able to see themselves in a novel and know that they are worthy of romantic, platonic, and self love!

Any disrespect toward individuals with fibromyalgia or any other disabilities will have that person blocked and reported. My MMC, Yuki, also has lesbian parents, so any disrespect toward them as well will not be tolerated. This is a welcome space ❤️

Thank you again, and I hope you enjoy what I hope to be the start of a 3-4 book series!

-Shreya :)
