"Okay so first, I need you to understand something about me. A few weeks ago I discovered that werewolves were not the only shifter option on this platform and I had what can only be described as a public meltdown about polar bears. If you missed it, the short version is: werewolves got nothing on polar bears! Were-polar bears are six hundred pounds of apex predator who can also be tender about it. The ceiling is infinite. I stand by everything I said. So I read The Forgotten King. This is a mafia romance with bears. I mean that with complete respect and zero irony. Bear gangs, bear power structures, bear territory wars, and a broody possessive male lead who walks into town and takes over the operation. If you read werewolf romance, the hierarchy will feel familiar immediately. Alphas, loyalty structures, clan politics. Just add snow and a much larger animal. The men are broody. Magnificently, committedly broody. But don't be fooled. The women are the actual engine. They run the day to day, hold the emotional center, and make every decision that matters while the men grunt at each other across rooms. Sky is wonderful. She unofficially runs everything without the title and the story respects that without making a big deal of it. I loved her immediately. Dominik does not say much. What he does instead is show up. Consistently. Deliberately. In ways you only notice if you're paying attention. When Sky finally asks him why he never says he loves her, his answer stopped me completely. I needed a minute. A note for readers new to shifter romance like me. The shifting itself isn't always explained in detail, but if you're already comfortable in this genre that probably won't bother you at all. It's likely exactly what you expect. I came in as a warm comedy romance person and had to find my footing. Once I did, I stayed willingly. The title is a thesis statement. It pays off exactly when it should. Sky deserves your time. Dominik will not ask for it. He will just quietly arrange everything until you realize you were always going to stay. Five polar bears. Infinite ceiling. I stand by everything. And nalashadowhunter? This author MUST write a second book in this series. You'll feel exactly the same way when you finish. You've been warned. Kira Lorne"

"This story from the beginning got my attention. Start with the happy life of Sky and how much she loves her clan, how she finds her place, and becomes their female leader. How she finds her mate, that's the descendant of the forgotten Kind. Can wait for the writer to give us more of the joy I get from reading his stories."

"This story was nice to come home to, sit down, and start drilling into my brain hehe! Story-wise I enjoy it overall, I can't say it's the MOST captivating thing I've ever read but that's true for most books lol! Nothing about the story to not like really, except for the Fate of Nikolais but perhaps that was meant to be heartbreakingly realistic. The plot is well thought out and easy to follow, it isn't some elaborate masterweb but a simple smooth read like a gentle river. Again, something really nice to come home and sit down to. The author's writing style was genuine, a couple of areas could have used better word choices but for the most part you really got into the story and characters. I noticed a fair share of grammatical mistakes but not a single one of them made the story unreadable or hard to understand, they were just very present, especially when compared to other books seen on this site. Regardless, they hardly impact the story."
