The Day Before
Lila – 10:03 AM
The town looked normal. It always did before it swallowed someone.
Lila poured coffee, smiled at Nora across the counter, and pretended she hadn’t found the circle behind the diner last night—burned into the dirt beneath the trash bins. A perfect 𝕆, with her name scratched faintly underneath.
She had dreamed of it every night. Now it was real. Her headaches were worse. Her nose bled when she got too close to the orchard. Shadows on Main Street whispered when she walked alone. No one else heard them—except Sam.
He had tried to help. He asked questions. He believed her.
That’s why they took him first. She knew she was next.
She packed a bag: journal, flashlight, locket with Sam’s photo.
And at 11:44 PM, after one last message to Nora, she followed the whispers into the woods—not to disappear, but to survive. She just didn’t know what she’d have to become.
