Prologue
Her wide eyes are the only light I know from extinguished constellations.
The sun lives under her skin, and she glows with it, she is iridescent, she is all I can see.
I feel as if I was nothing before her, as if she brought me into being.
All creation falls silent when she looks at me, and I am remade in the grace of being seen by her.
We were written in the stars only so the stars could watch us burn.
The gods themselves will envy us, and for that, we shall pay.
She pours down like a dawn too heavy with color.
She's spilling over like a vessel that can’t hold its tide.
She is frayed along the edges, yet still a work of art, unraveling the caution tape wound so tightly around my heart.
We drifted nearer than the heavens would allow.
Still, I reach for her-- and if loving her is folly, then let me be a fool forever.
How many heartbeats must I waste before fate admits it made her both my salvation and my undoing?
was i wrong to love you?
