Prologue
From the start she had no idea what the beginning was or how it'd even end.
Yemri's first glimpse of it had been her father walking into the room and seeing her mother twice before he saw anyone else.
When he looked at her, she knew she could only exist as an extension of her mother. They loved her, she loved them, yet she just couldn't understand.
Then she had her accident.
Yemi was left without her sight but she could see clearly how tangible love was. Between her parents their union was her light.
From her parents care and motivation, they had groomed her a path of connection with the world. She could see it all, starting with the most everlasting thing in her home.
They were perfectly content, even when she was crossing her prime, she enjoyed her home. Till she was facing the truth again.
He had seen her read by the river bank, he could only see her form from afar but days passed and every time his gaze drifted to her. He decided to go see for himself and for the first time he managed to approach her. She sensed him and lowered her book and his breath caught in his throat. She didn't turn to him but he went around her table and saw beauty that called his soul. Her eyes were the most beautiful part of her. he got on his knees and asked her if he could kiss her.
She wondered where on earth he had popped out from, but he was like her puppy. She felt them similar. she paused and agreed, his trembling hand cup her cheek and his soft lips brush hers before leaning away. That wasn't what she had expected but maybe that was how everyone's first kiss went about, she wouldn't know.
He whispered a promise that he wouldn't be living past this.
the next day he came to her side again and asked her to marry him. she didn't agree and he didn't ask again but came to her everyday for a whole season until he asked again and she couldn't say why but she said yes.
She rather enjoyed this odd man a lot.
She faced this again when her daughter, Nea knelt by her bed weeping about her love who would rather hold a blade for her than her hand. He believed she deserved better yet he was all she wants.
This... Was it something inescapable?
Now as her grand daughter, Deiana sat before her bashfully sharing her heart thumping story of her devoted suitor, she exhaled.
