The Child In Us❤️💔
"This story broke my heart, but it also showed me how children in abusive families cope, grow up faster than they should, become their parents carers, and take on responsibilities way above their age, maturity and abilities, this is a powerful story, I am feeling so many different emotions right now. I love the chapter titles and how they are written and explained in each chapter, this was really powerful for me. Brody is a brave, strong and loving child he loves his parents, and especially his alcoholic father, he has had to grow up fast, and become the adult to survive, care for his father once his mother left, he never gave up on his father no matter what, his love for the man shines through this story. I really, really enjoyed and loved reading this heartbreaking but a story of power, and love, i highly recommend it to everyone.❤️"
A true emotionally but educated story 💜
"A very insightful and heartbreak but eye- opening story indeed. The Author of this short emotional story done an outstanding job on this and how a small child can see their world in a toxic environment. Showing what domestic violence can look like to a child in their world and how it does not just affect the adults but also the precious children as well. Showing insight for how a child around this views the world and the trauma that this can leave on them with how a child learns, how they pay more attention than what you make think. Brody the child who narrates shows this very clearly, the author of this done an outstanding job. A true educational piece honestly that I would advice even though for me some chapters were hard to read and really listen and see the message. Thank you 💜 "
Touching, heartbreaking, profound...
"A short story that encapsulates the pain and rage of those who take refuge in the bottle, the emotional and physical suffering of those who become their target... and the trauma that scars a child who witnessed it all, watching their family fall apart. Personally, this reopened some old wounds... I will never forget all the times my mother woke my sisters and me up in the middle of the night, taking us to our grandmother's house while we were still in our pajamas and slippers. It wasn't alcohol in our case, but it was just as gut-wrenching. Excellent work, author ❤️🩹"
The Child in Me
"The plot is heartbreaking, eye-opening, and makes me relive my own childhood. I, like Brody, grew up in a household full of good things, but mostly bad things. Dad would make things mom's fault when they weren't, lie about things, and manipulate others. He never hit her in front of us, but would verbally tear her down into pieces, cheat on her, and overall destroyed her over 42 years of marriage. As a child looking in, I had no idea things were that bad! That it was just pretend, or a game. Mom would often shelter us like Brody's mom would, like any good mom should. To keep their child safe! I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to relive their inner childhood, or to have a good ugly cry!"
Break the Silence!
"This story really touched me. The Child in Us shows what it’s like to grow up caught between love and pain. The emotions feel so real and raw, especially the quiet strength of Brody the very young narrator. Kleopetra does a beautiful job showing how domestic violence doesn’t just affect adults, but changes the way a child learns to love, trust, and grow. It’s a gentle, heartbreaking reminder that some wounds don’t fade easily... but healing is still possible. 💔"
