"Though the story is set a couple of years before I too went to live and work and Utsunomiya, I feel like I have met these characters in real life. Perhaps shared their table in the Samurai bar, "borrowed" their bicycles to get home, listened to their drunken stories with awe and derision. It all rings true, and you can't ask for much more. And it also makes me miss Japan, and for that feeling I'm very grateful - thank you."
