The Beginning
I must say this is in no way a medical book. It is a book about where I turned into feeling like Franenstien's Monster sometimes. A good way to start this book is to start at the beginninig of my story. Well being a single mom causes me to take on both roles. I remember throwing a baseball for my son to hit and he says mom you throw like a girl. There was a time folding clothes when I asked my son to put his clothes away. His reponse was "Mom it is a woman's job t put away the clothes away." I told him if you ever get married I will be siding with your wife. Those were the normal days before I got the feeling of being Frankenstien's monster.
When my son was in middle school around 2005 we enrolled my son in Karate classes. He was doing so good at it. One night in October he was so excited about a new move he had learned. " Mom I learned a new trick! He said excitedly. You have to give me your hand." I was a l ittle hesitant about it. But he said please giving me the puppy dog eyes. Which i my weakness. I had told him about puppy dog eyes a way to get some people to do what you want them to do. I gave him my hand and ouch he flipped me on my back. His eyes wee wide and he said it worked. He wasso happy sbout that and excited. That night as he was was getting ready for bed he said mom I just can't believe that worked! Give me your hand again! He said. "Please? As he made the puppy dog eyes. I rolled my eyes kind of regretting about teaching him the puppy dog eyes. I gave him my hand and once again I was flat o my back. He was so excited about that.
But that was the last time he ever flipped me. So life went on. November came and went we had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Then came Deeember getting ready for Christmas. When I wasn't busy decorating the house I was busy with my job at Toys R Us. It was a fun job. About the middle of December I woke up one morning. The right side of my body from my underarms down to my foot was numb. Like the feelng you get when yiur foot goes to sleep because you have sat on it too long. I thought it would pass over. But it did not go away.. One of my co workers thought Icoukd have a pinched nerve. Thus began my journey of finding out what was causing this numbness o my right side.
February came along my doctor sent me to do an xray of my lower back from there I was sent to do a cortisone shot to my lower back. It waa the worst mistake. My legs became weaker and I was unable to stand for to long it lasted for two weeks. The numbness stayed. I had a big subcutanues cyst so I thought perhaps this was causing the numbness. I made tge decision to have it removed.
The things you do just to find out what is wrong with you and how it saves your lives with tge discovery of anotger health issue. I had the cyst removed. It was very big. A week later I went i and got the stitches out. I had went t go pick up my paycheck from work. While I was pickimg up my check, had to go back to the doctor my wound had dehisced. I wnt in for three months getting the wound treated. Then the ARPN said because my wound was taking to long to heal the decided to check me for diabetes 2. The tested me and tge ARPN said I had diabetes. I look back on that moment in time and how in way having tge cyst removed saved me from far worser things. I tend to make sure Itake care of myself especially making sure I take care of my feet. Any how knowing I had diabetes 2 made me come to the conclusion that perhaps I had diabetic neuropathy.
