Chapter 1: Admit it
The inner walls of the police interrogation room were eerily silent, other than the hushed voices of detective Jeremy Caine and Chuck Colton. Lue was stuck in the room, sitting across from an empty seat at the metal table, fiddling with the half-empty cup of coffee in her hands; no fear or anxiety played in her eyes.
Just an annoyance.
She had a small inkling of why she was being held there for questioning. There was only one person she knew who had the power to do this to her, and it just so happened to be Detective Jeremy’s older brother.
Peter Caine
The obnoxious, rich, and powerful man who made cold-hearted Lue fall head over heels for him. Sadly, Peter died at the youngish age of thirty-two years old three months ago. The Caine family has not released the cause of death, making the public suspicious of foul play due to Peter being worth over five million dollars.
“Hey assholes!! I can hear you breathing like you got asthma.”
Lue yelled, getting rather pissed off that they were trying to make her sweat, hoping for a confession, even though Lue was at a party that night across town.
She had a strong alibi, but Detective Jeremy couldn’t kick this feeling that she had something to do with his brother’s death.
Finally after a couple more minutes, Detective Jeremy and police officer Chuck walked in and slammed down a yellow folder about a quarter thick, both men with abnoxious smirks plastered on their faces as Detective Jeremy said with his usual cocky tone.
“Well, Lue, what do you have to say for yourself? Are you going to confess yet, or do we need to go through all these papers my brother filed against you?”
Lue glanced at the file, then back at the two men, before saying to them both, not even rattled by their attempt to scare her.
“All I got to say to you Jeremy, is that you need to stop acting like you got a bigger dick than your brother because trying to intimidate me is not working out for you... You’re still not my type.”
Lue gave both men a small smile, showing her dimples to them, she was totally Detective Jeremy’s type if it wasn’t for everything else about her. That smile irritated Jeremy but he had to stay calm during his line of questioning.
“Listen Lue, we know what you are like and we also know you threatened Peter’s life more than once when you were mad at him, so why dont you just make it easy for us and admit it?”
“Ha!”
Lue laughed while looking Jeremy in the eyes before reaching out, flicking the cover of the file open showing a small stack of blank printer paper.
“If you had anything to use to charge me with, you would of put cuffs on me. All you could do is hold me for a bit, hoping to break my small little spirit!”
Lue used a mocking baby voice for the last couple of words in her sentence, knowing neither man had the power or will to break her.
She sat up in her seat with a smirk.
“I got to get going, so unless you’re going to charge me with that prick’s Death, then I’m leaving this shit hole. If you want to get in contact with me again, Detective, then call me ahead of time because I don’t like men dropping by unannounced unless their attractive.”
She smirked, watching both men marinate in anger as they knew she was right, and Detective Jeremy was already on the police chief’s last nerve so any further action without his permission might make him stuck on desk duty. Lue waved bye to both men and walked out of the room before skipping to her older brother Casper waiting in the doorway of the chiefs office waiting calmly like he knew she was already taken there.
“It’s about time Lue, What took you so long?”
Casper sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, looking at his sister disapprovingly.
“Dont worry Casper, Everythings all good I think Detective Jeremy made a small mistake so lets get going!”
Lue hummed softly, looking at him gently before pulling him by his suit sleeve to the door, whispering to him letting a glint of anger become visible in her Ashe blue eyes
“I can’t believe he is trying to fuck me over from beyond the grave right now....”
